Partners for Europe
In 2007 the foundations ASKO EUROPA-STIFTUNG, Saarbrücken, Stiftung Europrofession, Saarbrücken, Stiftung europäische Kultur und Bildung, Saarbrücken, Stiftung Forum EUROPA Luxembourg, Stiftung Forum für Verantwortung, Seeheim, and the European Academy of Otzenhausen organized into the network Partners for Europe. The Partners for Europe are a network of autonomous and independent organizations, which pursue the objectives set forth in their respective charters, and which are jointly committed to the European idea as a force for peace in a democratic and federal order. They are furthermore aware of the necessity to encourage sustainable development and to improve the situation of civil societies. They aim to put the visions and objectives embodied by Arno Krause into practice and pursue and develop the launched activities in line with his principles. The activities of the Partners for Europe are directed at civil society and all citizens who are ready to support, as individuals, Europe and sustainable development. Their action focuses on the fields of education, science, research, culture, politics and the economy. They promote The citizens European awareness beyond national categories of thinking in all fields of private, social and professional life. The Franco-German-European competence in Saarland. The further development of the Greater Region SaarLorLux towards a European model region. The global understanding of the European integration process as a model for peaceful coexistence of peoples and national states. The public awareness of the necessity to support sustainable development and the responsibility of both civil society and the individual for life on Earth. The foundation ASKO EUROPA-STIFTUNG is a legally incorporated foundation under civil law. It solely and directly pursues objectives of charitable causes. After the merger with the Stiftung Europrofession foundation, the purpose of the foundation is strategically implemented through Forums of dialogue and discussion as well as European and international studies, which promote the debate on and raise awareness of Europe, the European idea and specific European policies. Information and educational events, which broach the effects of the ongoing European integration on working and professional life. Specific research projects and studies as well as targeted qualification activities, which analyse the importance accorded by society to education. Large-scale information and educational campaigns as well as generally understandable publications, which raise awareness of the challenges and requirements of sustainable development at the civil society level. Selected scientific research projects (in the fields of extended and targeted basic research as well as applied research), carried out in particular by departments of Saarland University (Universität des Saarlandes - UdS) and the University of Applied Sciences of Saarland (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes - HTW) are supported with a view to promoting Saarland as a scientific and business location. Its educational portfolio focuses on imparting skills for decision-making and taking action with a view to Europe. Its seminars, meetings and conferences aim to equip participants with the information they need to take action constructively and critically, in Europe, with Europe and for Europe. Come together to create Europe is therefore not just its motto, but lived reality. Over 9000 guests per year from Europe and all over the world participate in its seminars, colloquia, conferences, dialogue forums and expert conferences. The Academy is a conference and meeting centre and therefore a place for people from all over the world to meet and exchange ideas. Many German and international companies and institutions value the opportunity to hold meetings here or work in smaller groups with all of the amenities they desire. Intercultural seminars in cooperation with the Franco-German Youth Office, binational and multinational seminars with German and international partners and the Public Speaking plus seminars offered by the Institute for Public Speaking and Methodology are key elements of the educational centre. Furthermore, the Academy offers a multitude of events for its cooperation partners and other interested parties. Its information on and analysis of topical political issues and developments on a regional, national or European/international level are adapted to the needs of its target groups. Since 2007, in cooperation with the Forum für Verantwortung and ASKO-EURO- PA-STIFTUNG foundations, the European Academy of Otzenhausen has supported the educational initiative Encouraging Sustainability, which aims to motivate civil society to treat the Earth in a responsible way. The foundation is dedicated to fundamental questions of life and major social challenges and works on a scientific basis. On its behalf, internationally renowned scientists present the current state of research in a generally understandable way and identify options for action. From 2002 to 2013, an interdisciplinary colloquium was organised once per year; the respective contributions were published in the Forum für Verantwortung book series (S. Fischer Verlag publishing house). The issue of Sustainability has been the working priority of the foundation since 2005. Since 2007, in cooperation with the European Academy of Otzenhausen and ASKO-EUROPA-STIFTUNG, it has supported the educational initiative Encouraging Sustainability, which aims to motivate civil society to treat the Earth in a responsible way. Make Europe come alive beyond high politics and complicated structures this is the objective of the Stiftung europäische Kultur und Bildung foundation (SEKB), formerly Forum Europa e.v. Created in 2011, the foundation considers culture and education as inseparable and combines them in its work. The purpose of the foundation is therefore to promote European culture and education. It is implemented in particular thanks to the support for the development of projects, seminars and events, which aim to develop and strengthen European culture and education, intercultural seminars with focus on participant interaction, new working methods with a view to develop a European identity, Europe- and people-oriented information and publications, the management of the art collection of the European Academy of Otzenhausen. In this context the foundation organizes suitable activities independently or in cooperation with existing organizations promoting European education and/ or culture. It pursues objectives for the benefit of the public in line with the German Fiscal Code. Support is in particular given to events, which were developed or initiated under the direction of or in cooperation with the foundation. The European Academy of Otzenhausen is its closest partner. Forum EUROPA is a private non-profit foundation under Luxembourgian law based in the city of Luxembourg. It was founded in 2002. Its purpose is to promote in particular science, education, research and culture. This includes activities, which help encourage the economic and social development of the Greater Region Saarland, Lorraine, Luxembourg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Région Wallonne, Communauté française de Belgique, Deutschsprachige Gemeinschaft Belgiens. The purpose of the foundation shall be pursued through the implementation of projects, which make the individual zones of the greater region move closer together as well as the promotion of organizations, whose goals comply with the purpose of the foundation and whose sphere of action covers the core region of SaarLorLux-Trier/Westpfalz. From April 1, 2002 to March 31, 2014 the foundation was managed by Claude Gengler. Since April 1, 2014 the foundation has no longer employed a full-time managing director. Claude Gengler, member of the Administrative Board and deputy chairman of the foundation, is still responsible for its office.
