Of late, the hotel industry has seen many challenging factors on the future development of the tourism industry at large. Hotels, in particular have been buffered with numerous uncertain issues on Tourism Tax (TTx), low occupancy rates, staff turnover, competition from non-regulated Air B&B on line platform to the latest proposed compulsory Employment Insurance Scheme (EIS). MyBHA, an NGO body representing the voices of operating hotels rated 3 stars and below are keeping abreast of these pressing issues and all related information on the latest development shall be posted through our web portal at www.mybha.org and social platform in Facebook. In the face of global onslaught hitting right into the heart of the tourism sector, the way forward to perform business has drastically changed. Experts have predicted that newly improved software will disrupt most traditional industries in the coming 5 10 years. Hence, the business of the future shall evolve around Artificial Intelligence, where computers will become exponentially better in understanding the world we live in. In essence, 30-50% of the human jobs shall be replaced by robotics and automation by year 2030. How then, are we embracing ourselves to face the future business challenges that are both highly competitive and disruptive? The use of technological change in the practice of our daily business operations must be adopted in the first place. We must be receptive to new ideas and make the adjusted changes to cope with the fast evolving external environment. For those who continue to see shall suffer a bigger set back than who choose to do. MyBHA currently represents 2000+ members in the country and this number must grow to reflect an undivided and concerted voice to face the new unknown.
