By Representative Hafner 1 House Resolution 2 A resolution honoring the Phi Theta Kappa 3 All-Florida Academic Team members. 4 5 WHEREAS, April 27, 2000, "Florida Phi Theta Kappa Day," 6 is an appropriate time for the Legislature of the State of 7 Florida to recognize and salute Phi Theta Kappa, the esteemed 8 international honor society for community and junior colleges, 9 and 10 WHEREAS, special commendations should be extended to 11 the outstanding scholars who comprise Phi Theta Kappa's 12 All-Florida Academic Team, a team of highly successful 13 community college students assembled by the State Board of 14 Community Colleges to participate in the Phi Theta Kappa's 15 All-Florida Academic Team competition, and 16 WHEREAS, 116 students from 28 of Florida's community 17 colleges and one private institution were named to the 18 All-Florida Academic Team, and 19 WHEREAS, based on the national ranking of these 20 students in the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by 21 USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa, which is recognized 22 internationally, nationally, and in the State of Florida as 23 the primary community college organization for the recognition 24 of academic achievement, leadership, and service to the 25 community, the following students comprise the All-Florida 26 Academic First and Second Teams: 27 28 FIRST TEAM 29 Tayra de la Caridad Antolick, Santa Fe Community College 30 Heather Barchers, Florida Keys Community College 31 Kelly Barfield, Chipola Junior College 1
