SMM 01 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CURRICULUM DURATION Naval Command School (Foreign Navies) COMFORPAT Augusta, Italy To prepare attendees to assume ship's command The course is mainly oriented towards practical instead of theoretical training with the aim to provide realistic situations to the students on how to safely manoeuvre ships both day and night time within harbours and at open seas also within a task group. 6 weeks each Session (a total of 4 Sessions per year: February-March, April- May, September-October, October-November) 1 per Session (a total of 4 students per year) Attendees must be: - lieutenant with adequate expertise and skills gained aboard navy ships; - qualified as Officer of the Deck and well versed to prevent collisions at sea in accordance with international rules and standards as per the Convention IMO - STCW '95 (Table A-II / 1); - fluent in Italian language. - English language provided - Documentation and lectures will be kept at UNCLAS level Students may take advantage of local Navy Club logistic facilities (i.e. lodgings and board ~55 Euros per day)

SMM 02 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CURRICULUM DURATION AVAILABLE POSITIONS FOR FOREIGN Basic Officer Course Naval Academy Livorno To train and develop young men and women who aspire to be naval officers Designed to train officers designated to embark and take future command of naval units and/or operating entities of the armed forces. Upon completion of the three year course of study, officers will be awarded a degree in Maritime & Naval Science. Subsequently, at the end of the fourth year, the officers will attend the courses and apprenticeships achieving one of the following ratings: Telecommunications, Artillery or Antisom (whose choice will be indicated by bilateral agreements) and useful for the achievement of the Master's Degree in Maritime and Naval Sciences at partner University. 3 academic years for a degree, 2 academic years (including the qualification period and internship) for obtaining the Master's Degree in Maritime and Naval Sciences. Foreign Students attend a preparatory course at one of two locations: Loreto or Perugia with a tentative start in March/April. Upon receiving satisfying marks on the final Italian language proficiency exam (August) and meeting all physical standards, admittance will be granted into the 1st Class of the Italian Naval Academy Basic Officer Course. The course consists of at least two embarkations on an Italian training school ship in which midshipmen are integrated into the daily life of an operating unit at sea. Each embarkation takes place during the summer for a total duration of around 10 weeks. ~ 1 per every 6/7 Italian students, 9/10 maximum. - High school diploma or equivalent, preferably from a nautical or scientific institution, that satisfies requirements for entry into third level education. Diplomas, for entry into Italian University, should be the original copy with an attached Italian translation and be validated by the school system of the respective nation. Diplomas must be turned in immediately upon arrival in Italy. - Must be in good mental and physical standing to meet requirements of an officer serving in the Italian Navy. Upon arrival foreign students will undergo a series of medical examinations to determine medical readiness, in particular, students must have 10/10 vision. - Must be between the ages of 18-22 years. - Students must successfully complete the Italian language course at either Loreto or Perugia (minimal level for admission is L2-S1-R1-W1 IAW STANAG 6001, Edition 4). - compulsory membership on the Hational Health Service. - Upon arrival in Italy to show the entire scheduled school records is mandatory - Failure to pass / possession of one of the aforementioned requirements, involves the immediate repatriation to home nation. All course material is designated UNCLASSIFIED Room & board is provided in accordance with bilateral agreements.

SMM 03 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CURRICULUM DURATION Basic Engineering Officer Training Course Naval Academy Livorno To train and develop young men and women who aspire to be naval engineering officers For officers designated to work within ship propulsion plants. Upon completion study, officers will be awarded a degree in Naval Engineering. A percentage of officers will be awarded a degree in civil and environmental engineering for follow on work in the field of infrastructure. 6 academic years (4 at the Naval Academy and 2 at a conventional state university) The course consists of at least two embarkations on an Italian training school ship in which midshipmen are integrated into the daily life of an operating unit at sea. Each embarkation takes place during the summer for a total duration of around 10 weeks. 3 - High school diploma or equivalent, preferably from a nautical or scientific institution, that satisfies requirements for entry into third level education. Diplomas, for entry into Italian University, should be the original copy with an attached Italian translation and be validated by the school system of the respective nation. SMM 04 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CURRICULUM DURATION Junior Staff Course Naval Staff College (NSC) - Venice Provide students with knowledge and skills required to developing, planning and conducting staff activities related to Navy and Joint central/peripheral Commands, within national, foreign and international organizations. Participants will acquire: - main principles of the Working Methods and Operating Planning Procedures currently in use at national and NATO level (namely COPD); - written and oral Communications skills, with specific reference to forms of communications in use at headquarters; the value of strategic communications; elements of Public Relations; - main principles of Doctrine and Strategy, with a focus on the international environment in which Armed Forces (Navy in particular) operate; - main principles of Management and International, Maritime and Humanitarian Law. The educational course is based on an increasing level of complexity of information and crisis scenarios faced by the students. The learning process includes: - classes held by trained officers; - additional classes/conferences held by subject matter experts with solid academic and military background or widely known for their knowledge on the topic; - individual and group exercises and syndicates; - attendance to specific seminars and conferences planned, organized and held at the Institute. Students performances will be evaluated through intermediate tests, in each subject, and a final, overall examination. Approximately 13 weeks, 3 terms per year (Sep-Dec, Jan-Apr, Apr-Jul) 2-6 rank: OF-2/3; -good working knowledge of Italian language (to be verified by Italian Military Attaché) Subject to availability and upon request, foreign students may book a room with private toilet/shower (at the Institute) or a suite (in a military installation within walking distance). The institute provides an all-hands mess, open every day, including weekends (booking required). Lodging and meals will be at students' expense.

SMM 05 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CURRICULUM DURATION Hydrography professional qualification (Idr) (Category B Surveyor) Istituto Idrografico della Marina - Genoa To provide the know-how necessary to perform the tasks of the Hydrographic Officer on board survey vessels and at hydrographic services (technical divisions). The course provides the know-how required to be certified as Category B Surveyor after two years of training on the job. The course at IIM is divided into two phases: phase 0-4 weeks to provide the basic knowledge required to attend phase 1 ; phase 1-17 weeks- to deal with technical and specialized matters in the field of hydro-oceanography. Lessons are in English. 8 months (November - August), 25 weeks for theory classes at the Istituto Idrografico della Marina, 8 weeks practice sessions on board survey vessels. 3 Ensign /sublieutenant, corps of staff officers; Petty officers and seamen, combat system TLC and sonar specialists; High-school degree, preferably scientific or technical; Fluent English, to be assessed before the course. Lessons will focus on NON CLASSIFIED material. Accomodation is not provided. Meals can be taken at the IIM canteen (6.50 euros) on working days.

SMM 06 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CURRICULUM DURATION Specialization in Hydro-Oceanography (IDO) (Category A surveyor) Istituto Idrografico della Marina - Genoa To provide the technical and practical skills required to obtain the II level master degree in marine geomatics: planning and supervising surveys and performing data validation; improving the theory and practice of hydrography, oceanography and nautical sciences; teaching hydrography and oceanography at military training centres; The master allows to be certified Category A Surveyor after two years of training on the job. Two academic years as follows: phase 1-16 weeks, 10 of which for classes and 6 for exam preparation - theory; phase 2-20 weeks, 13 of which for classes and 7 for exam preparation - theory; phase 3-10 weeks training on survey vessels/in hydrography and geodesy campaigns/at the IIM; phase 4-10 weeks, 2 of which for lessons and practical sessions and 8 for training and dissertation. Lessons are in English. 2 academic years. 3 sublieutenant or lieutenant, corps of staff officers, with adequate professional skills; Post-graduate degree or equivalent; Fluency in English, to be assessed before the course. Lessons will focus on NON CLASSIFIED material. Accomodation is not provided. Meals can be taken at the IIM canteen (6.50 ) on working days.

SMM 07 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS REGULAR AND APPLICATION Navy Petty Officer School TARANTO The course is aimed at providing the attending personnel with the knowledge required to be employed as Chief Petty Officers for carrying out 2 nd level tasks such as controller and/or shift foreman, maintenance staff supervisor, fiduciary of warrant officer aboard small units with the possibility of achieving 3 rd and 4 th levels assignments, involving coordination and high-specialised charges. Upon completion of the course, the Chief Petty Officers can obtain the three-year academic degree. The Chief Petty Officer regular course consists of three years: 1 st year : Basic Formation, Specialist Preparatory, and 1 st year Academic and Specialist Studies: Boatswain Combat System Specialists Combat System Technicians Platform System Technician Harbour Pilots Qualified Nurses Upon completion of this 1 st year the naval training campaign is carried out. 2 nd year: 2 nd Academic and Specialist Studies; different studies for each specialization: CURRICULUM Boatswain Combat System Specialists Combat System Technicians Platform System Technician Harbour Pilots Qualified Nurses 1 st applying year (3 rd year) this year is aimed at obtaining the three-year degree with different studies for each specialization: Boatswain Combat System Specialists Combat System Technicians Platform System Technician Harbour Pilots Qualified Nurses DURATION AVAILABLE POSITIONS The course will last three academic years No. 2 places for each specialization; No. 2 places for the qualified nurses; No. 14 students A good knowledge of Italian language to be tested before starting related course; Required school-leaving certificate No restrictions, as subjects dealt with are NOT CLASSIFIED Room and board, sports facilities and education equipment will be available and provided by the Institute

SMM 08 TITLE LOCATION OBJECTIVES CURRICULUM DURATION Stage and Professional Training Course for Petty Officers 3 rd Class Combat System Technicians : Radar Operators ; Telecommunications Operators ; Sonar Operators Navy Petty Officer School TARANTO The course is aimed at improving the professional skills of the personnel from the Junior Ratings to the Petty Officers 3 rd class rate, in order to allow them to carry out the 2 nd Level tasks of Technicians and/or Maintenance Operators,thanks to: An advanced knowledge of subjects related to their specializations; Knowledge of equipments particular and general elements and their working methods; Fulfilment of activities in their peculiar operational field (Combat) Awareness of duties and responsabilities, related to their specific role Upon completion of the course, the attending personnel will have obtained: A deeper knowledge related to their specialization; Possibility to carry out successfully the Higher Specialist Qualification Course; Awareness of their own role within military organization; An excellent military formation and a corresponding military training; An improved fitness This course is addressed to every specializations, but the Boatswains, Engine Technicians, Harbour Pilots, and it generally consisting in the following main activities: An advanced knowledge concerning roles related to belonging grade/specializations enabling attending personnel to carry out efficiently their own tasks; Subjects concerning military formation/training, well known as formal training Sports activities The course consists of two phases for a total of 20 weeks, once a year, generally starting in October/November No. 5 places for each specialization A good knowledge of Italian language to be tested before starting related course No restrictions, as subjects dealt with are NOT CLASSIFIED Room and board, sports facilities and education equipment will be available

Qualify operators belonging to damage control organization providing skill and knowledge to operate in a fire-fighting team; 2.
