January 2017 Desert Coast Region Soroptimist International of the Americas Dear Soroptimists, Friends and Guests: On behalf of the members of your Region Board and the Conference Planning Committee, I am delighted to invite you to If You Can DREAM It, You Can BE It, our 39th Annual Spring Conference. Susan Gilbey Governor Desert Coast Region governor@soroptimistdcr.org I am pleased to announce that SIA Director and Secretary Treasurer Virginia G. (Gigie) Peñalosa from SI Mandaluyong, Philippines Region will be our official federation visitor. She will bring us the latest news from federation, facilitate a workshop, and help us celebrate our award honorees, members, and clubs. On Friday, we are excited that once again we will present a pre-conference Soroptimist Summit, If She Can Dream It, Help Her Be It... the Next Steps. This Summit will provide your club with the tools and the confidence to deliver the content of the Dream It, Be It Program to girls in your communities. The Summit is designed to provide hands on experience that will kick-start your outreach efforts to this vulnerable group of girls, and feature inspiring speakers. The content is suitable for those who've never presented at a Dream It, Be It Session, as well as those with experience, but who want to hone their skills. So please join us for this important pre-conference event. Conference will officially open on Friday evening, and it promises to be an exciting few days! We'll welcome special guest speakers, learn from our outstanding workshop presenters, recognize the exceptional efforts of our clubs and members, and be inspired by the stories of our Live Your Dream Award honorees and their extraordinary journeys. We'll even have a first-ever Friday Night Movie, Popcorn & Pajama Party which promises to be an entertaining evening--especially as we'll have a contest for the best pj's and slippers. You ll love the resort-like setting of our Conference hotel, the free parking, on-line registration, and excellent room rate we ve arranged this year.
