Our Annual Needlework, which in 2018 will be in its 55th year, honors her legacy as an American crafter, maintaining the long tradition of the needle arts, promoting emerging needlework artists, and raising needed funds to preserve our site today. Along with Woodlawn mansion, our property hosts the iconic Pope-Leighey House, designed by famed architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright and Mrs. Marjorie Leighey, the house's second owner, were both fans of the Japanese aesthetic, each visiting Japan many times and including Japanese design elements in their own spaces. This year, as part of our year-long celebration of Wright's 150th Birthday year, we are highlighting that shared passion with an additional exhibit in our of Japanese embroidery, a contemporary needle art exhibit, and more! Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House are two houses on one property owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Needlework is a fundraising event for our non-profit historic site. Your support is important to us. Our site receives no federal or state funding. Follow us on social media Woodlawn and Pope-Leighey House WoodlawnPL woodlawnandpopeleighey
