Fire Prevention and Protection Systems e. Mechanical Engineering f. Integrated Building Services We strive to be the owner s partner in its quest to build world-renown, technologicallyadvanced, safe, reliable and efficient systems and look forward to be given the privilege to offer our services. 3
2. CNA s Capabilities in Transportation In the transport sector, CNA major in providing Environmental Control Systems for Rails and Tunnel Ventilation Controls for Underground Road Tunnels. a. Mass Rail Transport In the rail transport arena, CNA pride itself as the company that provides Environment Control System (ECS) for almost all the stations in the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) network in Singapore. CNA possess in-house engineering capabilities to provide the following scope of services: 1. Design, manufacture, testing, delivery, installation and commissioning of ECS control equipment for rail or MRT stations. 2. In renewal exercises: Migrate ECS equipment from old local control system to new local control system; Decommissioning of the existing ECS local control system equipment. 3. Detailed design and implementation of the required interfaces, including the all software programming for SCADA and control functionalities. 4
4. Preparation and submission of all plans, documents, drawings, programs, manuals and execution schedules. 5. Manage the execution of the project. In providing ECS for the rail and MRT stations, CNA is the Master System Integrator that provides comprehensive and integrated turnkey solutions for station building and facilities management. For each station CNA can provide and integrate the following systems into one holistic control system using IP Platform: Rail Communication Infrastructure Traveler Display System Intelligent Facility Management System Automatic Fare Collection Radio Communication System Intercom System IP Telephone Infrastructure and Equipments Omni Bus Phone System Emergency Voice Communication & Public Address System Integrated Security Event Management System Closed Circuit Television System Access Control System 5
Master Clock System Environmental Control System Tunnel Ventilation System In-vehicle Communication System Emergency Trip System CD/HPVF Shelter Equipment/Communication Monitoring System (for Civil Defense and Heavily Protected Vital Facilities) The primary function of the ECS is to provide both passenger comfort and safety in the station. The station ECS will provide control of the physical environment and air ventilation rate in the concourse and platform levels, ancillary rooms, commercial areas, and equipment rooms. During fire emergency, the station ECS will also provide smoke control within the station. It will interface with the fire alarm system for shutdown of the appropriate ECS equipment and operation of the smoke control/purge system. The Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS), which is part of the ECS, will provide passenger safety during evacuation from the tunnels to the stations, or other points of refuge, during train fires or other tunnel smoke conditions. The TVS will also provide the required cooling effect so that the train s air-conditioning systems can continue to operate during congested train operations. The ECS will be controlled and monitored from the ECS control rooms, passenger service center and the Operations Control Center. b. Underground Road Network For long underground road tunnels, adequate tunnel ventilation is important. Besides providing adequate ventilation to ensure that the pollution is within acceptable limits, fire safety, especially smoke control is an important aspect of road tunnel ventilation. CNA has in-house capabilities of designing and installing control systems for the ventilation system for underground road tunnels. 6
3. Value Proposition a. Software Assurance CNA implemented the first software assurance for the ECS software system in Singapore. The ECS software for the North East Line (NEL and Changi Airport Line (CAL) were audited. CNA s ECS software system achieved conformance to RIA 23, Safety Related Software for Railway Signaling Consultative Document 1991, Integrity Level 2. 7
b. EMC Certification CNA is the 1 st company in Singapore to achieve conformance to the EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) requirement in ECS Control System. The Local Supervisory Control Panels (LSC Panels) of the ECS Control System were designed and built in-house by CNA. They were sent to a national test laboratory, PSB Singapore (now known as TUV SUD PSB Pte Ltd) for certification. The pictures below show the testing for EMC. 8
c. In-House Expertise The expertise is developed in CNA over the past 20 years involving in mass rapid rail transport projects: Project Management for completion of complex systems Energy Auditing and Management to achieve energy efficient stations Software Assurance to achieve software reliability Customized Driver Development for Full Integration of Disjoint Systems Maintenance Support for high availability of ECS for MRT Lines. d. Maintenance Support CNA s business culture is to partner with our customers to ensure that the systems maintain a very high availability when put into operation. Our in-house maintenance team provides: Facility operation Preventive and breakdown maintenance Instrument and sensor calibration Energy audit and management Improvement works Round the clock on-call service e. Certifications CNS has a strong desire and a corporate culture to deliver its best endeavor in any project undertake. Our Singapore head office has the following certifications for our business processes: Quality Management System to ISO 9001: 2000 Occupational Health and Safety Management to BS OHSAS 18001: 2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management to SS 506: Part 1: 2009 BizSAFE STAR Certification by WSH (Work Safety and Hazard) Council Environment Management System to ISO 14001: 2004 9
4. Our Project References a. MRT Projects CNA has implemented ECS for the majority of the stations in Singapore MRT Lines: Upgrading of LSC for 48 stations Downtown Line (05 stations) Circle Line Extension (02 stations) Circle Line Stage 2 (05 stations) Circle Line Phase 4 & 5 (15 stations) Bishan Station Bishan Station (North South Line) Upgrading of 12 Stations Dover Station Changi Airport Line North East Line (16 stations) Harbour Front Interchange Station Upgrading City Hall Station Raffles & Orchard Station Extension of Woodland Line (06 stations) MRT Headquarters A&A Work at Tanjong Pagar Station 10
b. Road Tunnel Projects CNA also provided the environment control system and tunnel ventilation control system for the KPE (Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway) road tunnel in Singapore. KPE is the third newest of Singapore's network of expressways. The southern section of the expressway opened first, on 26 October 2007 with the remaining section fully opened on 20 September 2008. Connecting the East Coast Parkway and the Tampines Expressway in the north-east, the 6 lane expressway extends twelve kilometres, with approximately running some 10 kilometres underground. Built at a cost of approximately S$1.8 billion (US$1 billion), it is the longest subterranean road tunnel in Southeast Asia. The KPE is also believed to be the world's sixth longest underground road project at its time under construction. In all, the dual-carriageway expressway with three lanes in each direction will have eight interchanges, eleven on-ramps, and twelve off-ramps. 11
c. Bus Depots Besides and rail and roads, CNA also provide a wireless network at the 9 bus depots in Singapore to download the cash transactions registered in the on-board equipment in the buses. This download of cash transactions required a secured wireless network, which is an important integral part of the revenue system for the bus operator. In the on-board equipment, the cash transactions are recorded when passengers embark and alight the buses. The data on the revenue generated has to be downloaded and send to the relevant financial exchange. 12
