The MEDIC Dispatch News From The Front Line January 28, 2013 Mecklenburg EMS Agency Dates to Remember: January 28 th 1200 1600 January 29 th 1600 1900 January 30 th January 31 st 1830 2230 Move Over Event On Wednesday, January 23rd, a reunion that 10 years ago seemed unlikely took place in the Bay of Building 1. On this very same day back in 2003 former Medic paramedic Tim Hayes lost his legs after he was hit by a tractor trailer, two SUVs and his Medic ambulance on I-77. North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory proclaimed last Wednesday North Carolina Move Over Day, to help raise awareness about the statewide law. Tim stood onstage before his family, a crowd of dozens of Medic employees, local media and community partners, including members of the North Meck Rescue Squad, CFD, CMPD and NC- DOT, and told the story of how a truck driver almost ended his life. His partner Bobby Suarez, as well as the North Meck Rescue crew of John Stroup and Henry Cook, detailed what they remembered from that day, and how they worked together to save Tim s life. The group asked everyone to stay focused when driving and to obey North Carolina s Move Over law by moving over at least one lane when approaching emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Three digital billboards on both I-85 and I-77 asked drivers to slow down for emergency responders. NC-DOT also displayed a Move Over law message on overhead messaging boards across Mecklenburg County. Reporters from four local TV stations and two local newspapers were in attendance. When it becomes available their coverage will be posted on the Video News Gallery section of our website. Employee Satisfaction Survey The second launch of the on-line Employee Satisfaction Survey will begin this Friday, February 1 st. Please make sure to check your Medic email for an invitation from PRC to participate in this quarter s survey. Only half of the Agency is selected each time the survey is launched so if you are one of the lucky ones chosen, please help to give the Agency your feedback which directly impacts changes and improvements at Medic. With the recent shift bid in January, you may be receiving the survey for the second time because the survey is based on your current supervisor as of today. Please make sure to complete the survey even if you responded in November. Please keep in mind that your responses to the survey are guaranteed to be completely anonymous. PRC (our survey administrator) compiles all results and sends the reports directly back to the Agency. You may complete your survey from any PC as long as you use the link provided in the email invitation. Last quarter, we had a 71.43% participation rate which is excellent! Let s try for an even higher participation this quarter! Thank you all for your participation in the survey your feedback is extremely important to the Agency! 2013 Stars of Life Nominations Due Next Week! This can be found on the monitor while sending the ECG to the tablet by the following steps, proceed as if you were sending an ECG to the tablet then choose: Other Data management Choose event Send *-Exclude Audio and QPCR data when sending event* After Importing and attaching a Patient s ECG DO NOT CHOOSE THE SELECT ALL BUTTON, only choose the appropriate ECGs/Wave forms needed to be attached. Please contact Steve Vandeventer at ext. 6140 or Ute Dorflinger at ext. 6158 if you have questions. Medic Earns 2013 AWLP Work-Life Medic is proud to announce that it has earned the Work-Life Seal of Distinction for 2013 from the Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP)! A total of 54 honorees were selected this year representing organizations from across the country in both the public and private sector, from a variety of industries. Applicants were evaluated based on the breadth and depth of their work-life portfolio, and had to provide evidence of their support in seven keys areas: dependent care, health and wellness, workplace flexibility, financial support, paid and unpaid time off, community involvement and efforts to transform organizational culture. Medic was one of only three recipients from North Carolina who received the 2013 AWLP Work-Life Seal of Distinction. Kudos to every Medic employee. Your hard work, and input continues to make Medic a great place to work! epro Scheduler Password Synch Community Demo Training The Scheduling and IT departments are pleased to announce an interface that will automatically carry over employees current Medic password to the new epro Scheduler software. The new password synchronization will take place at 8:00 am TODAY, January 28 th. For questions about your Medic password, please contact the IT department. For questions about the epro Scheduler, please contact a member of the Scheduling department. Do you enjoy educating the community about Medic & the field of EMS? Attend Community Demo training!
