This organization integrates programs, services, and initiatives found within traditional university student affairs models (admissions, student recruitment, registrar, disability services, financial aid, health and counseling, international programs and initiatives, orientation, outdoor adventures and recreation, residence life, Student Recreation Center, Wood Center Student Union, sustainability, and veterans resource center), advancement models (development and alumni relations, community outreach, marketing and communications), as well as Public Broadcasting (KUAC TV and FM), and intercollegiate athletics. Co-Lead Scholar, Fulbright Arctic Initiative, US Department of State 2014 2017 Serving as one of two lead scholars for the US Department of State s Fulbright program focused on the Arctic, lead the design and implementation of a multi-year research initiative comprised of 17 scholars representing each of the 8 Arctic nations. Vice Chancellor for Students 2009-2012 Directed the Division of Student Services comprised of admissions, registrar, career services, residence life, health and counseling, international programs and initiatives, financial aid, disability services, admissions counseling and student recruitment, outdoor adventures and recreation, sustainability, Wood Center Student Union, veteran s service, and the Student Recreation Center. Associate Dean, School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences, Director, University of Alaska Geography Program, Department Chair, Geography 2005 2009 Served as one of two Associate Deans in support of program and school-wide initiatives. In consultation with the faculty, led a multi-year curriculum revitalization of the Geography Department and creation of the University of Alaska Geography Program (degree programs, K- 12 outreach programs, and Scenarios Network for Alaska and Arctic Planning SNAAP). Professor of Arctic Policy (School of Natural Resources and Extension, formerly School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences, 2014). 1

Associate Vice President, University of Alaska System 2002-2005 Directed the creation and implementation of the UA Office of Student and Enrollment Services. Directed and facilitated the development and implementation of system-wide programs, budgets, policies, and planning that supported and enhanced UA s academic and student success mission. Additional responsibilities included development of UA distance education initiatives and strategies, as well as electronic student services including UAOnline. Director, Office of Program Development, Office of the President, University of Alaska System 1999-2002 Established and directed UA-wide initiatives in distance education, institutional and community outreach, and military support programs. Led initiatives that enhanced UA-wide information technologies, rural TV broadcasting capabilities, and served as Founding Director, Alaska Distance Education and Technology Consortium. Director, Research and Program Development, College of Rural Alaska 1997-1999 Developed, directed, and implemented College-wide initiatives to enhance and expand academic and support programs offered at the College s 6 community campuses (Kotzebue, Nome, Bethel, Dillingham, Interior-Aleutians, and the Tanana Valley Campus). Outreach and development responsibilities included liaison to state and federal entities, Alaska Native Corporations, private sector partners, as well as numerous private foundations. Coordinator, Student Services 1993-1997 Directed the integration and articulation of numerous student services to include formerly independent community college campuses throughout rural Alaska. Focus areas included community campus outreach and the development and implementation of new service and delivery models within a multi-campus setting. Served as student service generalist in support of programs and initiatives throughout the Fairbanks campus. Coordinator, Branch (Community) Campuses 1989-1993 Developed, integrated, and implemented student and business service models to establish a UAF-wide (Fairbanks campus and community campuses) administrative structure. Services, programs, and processes included admissions and records, academic advising, health and counseling, general students services, and financial aid. Admissions Counselor/Assistant to Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs 1987-1989 Admissions Counselor: Developed and implemented student recruitment and marketing strategies to include print, television, and related outreach efforts. Developed community college articulation plans, high school and college fair strategies, and campus-based high school counselor programs. Concurrently served as UAF/NCAA Compliance Officer & Athletic Academic Advisor. 2

Head Resident & Area Coordinator, Residence Life and Student Affairs 1985-1987 Hall Director: Supervised a residence hall facility with over 140 students, five resident (student) advisors, and several student desk attendants. Responsibilities included programming, resident advisor training, judicial board advisor, and student support.
