The Fund raised close to $5,, including a match gift of $2, from The Patterson Foundation. Through CDPÆs unparalleled expertise in disaster management and grantmaking, we are investing in projects and initiatives that: òemphasize funding that is medium- and long-term in nature and based upon the prevailing needs that emerge in the weeks and months to come; òtransect broad disciplines to ease the transition from a disaster to normalcy; òfill in gaps where public resources are unavailable or scarce; òfoster collaborative relationships among donorsùincluding the sharing of information with funders and nonprofit organizations; òutilize existing local philanthropic networks and work to strengthen local philanthropy; òpromote cross-sector coordination with academics, donors, think tanks, and public and private humanitarian actors; and òsupport innovative research that informs policy changes and strengthens preparations for and response to future disasters. The programmatic expertise of CDPÆs board, staff, and advisory councilùpaired with an extensive network of disaster management actors and academicsùguides the organizationæs grantmaking strategy. Emphasis is placed on investing well rather than investing quickly, addressing the greatest needs and gaps in funding that may be yet to emerge. 1/29/212 Yes 12/31/214 Yes Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, New Jersey Grants to other organizations
