You may update your own information at the Members Only page of WWW.ASCE.ORG PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Greetings, April is stacking up to be a great month to be a civil engineer in the Southeast Branch! On March 31 and April 1, MSOE hosted the Great Lakes Student Conference. ASCE Student Members from around the great lakes region converged on Milwaukee to compete in the concrete canoe, steel bridge, and other engineering competitions. Thank you to the Members who helped make this a successful event for our Student Members! On April 11 our Branch teamed up with the ASCE Wisconsin Section, STEM Forward, and Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to host a private showing of Dream Big at Discovery World. Approximately 60 people were in attendance for the showing where attendees were able to network and enjoy appetizers and drinks before the movie. A big thank you goes out to our Region 3 Board of Directors who provided a $750 grant for the showing and the Section and Branch boards for endorsing this event. If you were unable to make it to this event, no worries. The Milwaukee Public Museum will be showing Dream Big regularly beginning in July and continuing through September. The Branch is talking with the Museum to see what kind of partnership ASCE and the Museum could put together around Dream Big. More details on the Dream Big showing at the Museum will be announced in the coming months. Coming up on April 22, the Younger Member Group is gathering volunteers for the annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Earth Day Clean Up. As engineers, we are able to clean the earth through design and volunteered labor. This event is open to Members, Younger Members, Student Members, and guests. This is a great opportunity to meet upcoming young engineers in our Branch. 2017 Scholarship Golf Tournament Article By: Paul Koszarek The 2017 ASCE Southeast Branch Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held again at Ironwood Golf Course in Sussex on Friday June 9th. Once again, the ASCE SE Branch Scholarship Golf Tournament Committee and our returning Event Sponsors, Ground Improvement Engineering and Foundation Services Corporation, would like to have your support for this year's event. New this year, we are offering multiple opportunities to get one or two golf registrations FREE with your sponsorship at the $500 and $600 levels, respectively. With the popularity of this event growing by leaps and bounds over that past several years, sponsorship opportunities have already started to fill up. The proceeds from the event allow the ASCE Southeast Branch the ability to offer scholarships to local civil engineering students in Southeastern Wisconsin. Due to the success of our golf outing and the generous and loyal sponsorships, we are now able to provide four $2,500 scholarships to deserving civil engineering students. We could not have provided these without your support. Don't miss this opportunity to give back to the civil engineering community!
