This packet is your guide for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Interview Weekend, including rules, regulations and hotel accommodations. You should take this opportunity to meet people, explore campus and ask questions about SLU. Familiarize yourself with this packet and be sure to stick to your schedule. According to official MLK, Jr. Scholarship Interview Weekend Rules and Regulations, all candidates must leave campus by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. SCHOLARSHIP WEEKEND IMPORTANT INFORMATION Hotel Accommodations Saint Louis University has reserved a block of rooms at the Drury Inn & Suites - St. Louis Forest Park, located at 2111 Sulphur Ave., approximately 4 miles from campus. For reservations, please visit the link www.slu.edu/admissions/mlkhotel by Monday, March 13, 2017. Remember to mention the specific hotel location and that you are visiting Saint Louis University for Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Weekend in order to receive a special rate. Please note that the free shuttle service will only be offered to and from the Drury Inn & Suites. Hotel Ignacio, another option, is within walking distance from Saint Louis University, located at 3411 Olive St. For reservations, please call 314-977-4411. Remember to mention that you are visiting Saint Louis University for Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Weekend in order to receive a discounted rate. Recommended Attire During your interviews, please plan to dress in business attire: coat and tie or suit for men; a dress, skirt or suit for women. For the Friday evening Martin Luther King, Jr. Reception, please dress in business casual attire. Please feel free to dress casually for all other activities. Rules and Regulations Parent Attendance Parents are welcome to attend the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Interview Weekend, but their attendance is not required. Parents cannot attend the class visit on Friday morning or Saturday s interviews; there will be a separate program of activities specifically for parents during those times. Check-In and Arrival on Campus You may only check-in for the weekend during one of the official check-in times: Check-In A: Thursday, March 23 from 6 7 p.m. Check-In B: Friday, March 24 from 9 9:50 a.m. Check-In C: Friday, March 24 from 1 1:30 p.m. Check-In D: Friday, March 24 from 4:45 5 p.m. You are required to arrive at the University and check-in with the office of admission during your selected check-in time. Check-Ins A, B and C are all optional. If a student chooses Check-In A or B, then s/he must attend the class visit, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar Meet and Greet Luncheon, the academic session, and the campus or city tour. Please note that only students may attend the class visit; a separate activity has been scheduled for parents during this time. Except in the case of flight cancellations or legitimate emergencies, the office of admission cannot accommodate check-ins outside of these times.

Rules and Regulations (continued) Required Participation on Friday All activities following Check-In D are mandatory. You must attend the Friday evening meeting with your admission counselor and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Welcome Reception if you wish to participate in the interview process. Required Participation on Saturday On Saturday, you must remain on campus and take part in all scheduled events, including your interviews, until 1:30 p.m. You may not schedule a departure that requires you to leave campus before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday; therefore, you should not schedule flight that departs earlier than 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25. Students should not remain on campus after 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 25. Optional Overnight Stay on Campus Students who are interested may spend Thursday night on campus with an assigned current Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar host. To take advantage of this option, you must choose Check-In A and register for an overnight stay. Thursday night is the only night that an overnight stay on campus is available.* Students who spend the night on campus are expected to adhere to the University s Code of Conduct and to remain on campus with their individual host at all times. These students will be responsible for completing the Saint Louis University Overnight Conduct Agreement prior to their visit. Information about this agreement will be sent to the student with their confirmation materials. Please note that a student s behavior at all times during Interview Weekend is indicative of his or her qualifications as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Candidate. * Overnight accommodations for Friday and Saturday night will be available for students traveling to St. Louis without a parent or guardian. These students must live more than 60 miles from campus. Requests for Individual Itineraries and Other Visit Options It is our hope that Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Interview Weekend will offer you a firstclass introduction to life at Saint Louis University. Because the itinerary for the Interview Weekend is already highly customized to each student s individual needs, we cannot schedule additional appointments during this time. Please be assured that the weekend s itinerary will allow ample time for you to speak with representatives from many University offices and academic departments. Scholarship Value The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is valued at a renewable $3,000 per year and combines with any other merit-based scholarship previously awarded by the University to total a minimum of $13,000 (merit + MLK). Online Registration for Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Interview Weekend In order to participate in Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Interview Weekend, you must register online by 8 p.m., Sunday, March 5 at www.slu.edu/admissions/king_registration. By completing the online registration form, you indicate your agreement with the above terms for Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Interview Weekend. Again, congratulations!
