Students will be able to obtain: The certifications necessary for employment in entry-level direct care services. The requisite courses for the majority of national nursing and allied health programs, and specifically for UAA Nursing and Allied Health programs. Goal #2: The Health Sciences program provides a foundational education for future health care professionals. Graduates will: Demonstrate proficiencies in the 6 basic UAS competencies to the level needed to accomplish the primary goal of this program. Reflect the UAS core values of cultural awareness, personal ethics, collaboration and continuing education.
EXT OUTCOMES: GOAL #1 Graduates will be able to obtain certifications necessary for employment in entrylevel direct care services as well as the requisite courses for the majority of nursing and allied health programs, and specifically for UAA Nursing ad Allied Health programs. 1.1 Students demonstrate understanding of nursing and allied health science program requirements and options within their career choices. 1.2 Students successfully develop and complete personalized internships in a health care field of interest. 1.3 Students successfully complete the requisite GERs and science courses necessary to apply for admissions to nursing and allied health programs. AAS - HEALTH SCENCES ASSESSMENT PLAN METHODS AND MEASURES What is going to be assessed? Goal #1 of the Health Sciences assessment plan which states: Health Sciences AAS graduates will obtain the certifications necessary for employment in entry-level direct care service and the requisite courses for the majority of national nursing and allied health programs, specifically for UAA Nursing and Allied Health programs. What is going to be used to assess the program goal? A rubric for goal #1 will be used for assessment. Each graduate of the AAS program will be scored over a period of time and the results will be combined to create a cumulative assessment for tracking. RUBRC FOR GOAL #1: Health Sciences AAS graduates will obtain employment as entry-level health care workers and/or completion of requisite courses for nursing and allied health programs, specifically for UAA Nursing and Allied Health Programs. AAS DEGREE: HEALTH SCENCES Beginning 1 Developing 2 Competent 3 Accomplished 4 Attains employment as an entrylevel health care worker such as CNA, PCA or EMT attains certification but does not seek employment begins works parttime in certified health care field has been consistently employed in a certified health care field for over 6 months more than 1 year of employment plus level advancement within field Completes all requisite courses for a nursing or allied health program takes general beginning courses in preparation for a career focus targets career choice and begins taking specific requisite courses completes all requisite courses as well as other porgram requirements such as NET exam obtains acceptance into a nursing or allied health care program
When is information going to be obtained? The rubric will be started upon acceptance into the program and each year thereafter. How is the information going to be obtained? nformation will be obtained by file review and by contacting graduates. Expected Results: t is expected that students will have an average combined score of at least 2.5, meaning that they will have obtained at least part time employment in an entry-level direct care service. t is expected that students will have an average combined score of 3, meaning that they will have completed enough course work to prepare for application to a nursing or allied health program. OR f the above results are not obtained, the curriculum will be examined with input from the Health Sciences advisory board and a plan will be developed to ensure better results.
