4.0 RESEARCH FUNDING 1992 Principal Investigator with Sandra Wahtera. Follow up study of pediatric outcomes for a high-risk neonatal population in rural Michigan. Funding began September 1991. A grant of $14,775 was awarded for academic year 1991-92 and $17,000 for academic year 1992-93, by North Avenue Women's Center, Battle Creek, MI. 5.0 PROGRAM FUNDING 2010-2015 Principal Investigator. Advanced Nursing Education Expansion (ANEE) grant funded by The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to increase full time study through the award of stipends. A grant of $1,425,500 was awarded for academic years 2010-2015. 2008-2012 Principal Investigator. Advanced Education Nursing Traineeships (AENT) is funded by The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to increase graduate study through the award of stipends. A grant of $60,144 was awarded for academic year 2011-2012. A grant of $57,262.00 was awarded for academic year 2010-2011. A grant of $65,850 was awarded for academic year 2009-2010. A grant of $52,732 was awarded for academic year 2008-2009. 2010 Principal Investigator for Creating Inclusive Excellence. This Michigan State University funded project provided for faculty development and curricular enhancements in cultural competency. The project award was $28,039. 2010 Principal Investigator with K. Kessler for the Preparing Nurses for Roles in Patient Centered Medical Homes: Case Management and Quality/Safety Management funded by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation. Developed and implemented an educational program to prepare registered nurses to transition to roles as case managers and quality/safety managers. The project award was $82,290. 2010 Principal Investigator for the Michigan Nurse Corps Accelerated Option Program funded by the Michigan Department of Community Health. The program provided financial support to displaced Michigan workers who have qualified for and been offered admission to MSU College of Nursing Accelerated BSN program. 2006-2009 Co-Principal Investigator with Denise Holmes for a grant to support the work of Michigan Health Policy Forum (MHPF) funded by the WK Kellogg Foundation. This grant provided $20,000 for each of three years to support recruitment of national speakers for the MHPF and to assist the MHPF advisory board to develop strategies to achieve long term sustainability for the forum. The project award was $60,000. 2006-2008 Principal Investigator for MSU for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation award from the Robert Wood Johnson/ Northwest Health Foundation Partners in Nursing s Future Initiative (PIN) Grant. This grant supported the design and implementation of an online program for nurses wishing to transition to clinical practice in ambulatory, home health, hospice and long term care settings and convened nursing leaders and potential funders across Michigan to develop support for nursing workforce issues. The project total for this award was $371,602 for two years. 2007 Principal Investigator for the Accelerated Health Care Career Initiative (2) funded by Michigan Department of Community Health and Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth. This grant supported the implementation of an Accelerated Option (AO) BSN program including a student stipend program. Health system partners for this grant included: Sparrow Health System- Lansing, MI, Beaumont Hospitals-Royal Oak, MI, Oakwood Health System-Dearborn, MI, Foote Hospital, now Allegiance Health- Jackson, MI and Ingham Regional Medical Center, now McLaren Greater Lansing, MI. The project award was $989,785. 2006-2007 Principal Investigator for an award from Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) to support activities for the Michigan Nursing Faculty Diversity Summit. This project co-sponsored by MDCH, Lansing Community College and Michigan State University brought together nursing faculty members from across the state to develop a program of activities spread across two face-to-face meetings to provide support to faculty from all Michigan nursing programs to strengthen their diversity programs. The project award was $112,261. 2006 Awarded a China Program Development grant by the Office of MSU China Programs supporting travel to China to begin partnership discussions between the College of Nursing and Chongqing Medical University. The project award was $3,100. 2005-2006 Principal Investigator for a Michigan Department of Community Health and Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth grant, Accelerated Nurse Training Program Initiative. This collaborative educational grant opportunity helped to support the initiation of the Accelerated Option (AO) BSN program in msucon/wehrwein/cv5/1-9-15 4

collaboration with Beaumont Hospitals, Ingham Regional Medical Center, Oakwood Health System, Sparrow Health System and Michigan State University College of Nursing. The project award was $1,404,844. A supplemental award to support AO Cohort 2 in the amount of $243,400 was received in partnership with Ingham Regional Medical Center now McLaren Greater Lansing. 2005-2006 Principal Investigator for Michigan Department of Community Health Medicaid Administrative Match agreement 2005-06. This project was developed to support the design of curriculum enhancements to improve the ability of graduates to serve Medicaid populations and other disadvantaged populations. A key activity in this submission was funding to support implementation of a new model for collaboration between College of Nursing and Lansing Public Schools to implement enhanced clinical learning opportunities in school settings. This project was initially funded in 2002. 2003-2005 Principal Investigator for a Web-Based RN Refresher Demonstration Project funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation. This project designed, implemented and evaluated an RN Refresher Program that featured web-based didatic and community based clinical practicum. Facilitation of the re-entry of licensed nurses into the workforce is a short-term strategy to address the nursing shortage. This project was funded for $99,280 over a two-year period. 2002-2005 Principal Investigator for Michigan Department of Community Health Medicaid Administrative Match agreement 2001-02 (CON Amendment). This project supported the design of curriculum enhancements to improve the ability of graduates to serve Medicaid populations and other disadvantaged populations. In addition to enhancements for theory and clinical coursework to enable MSU graduates to better serve Medicaid and other disadvantaged populations, a key feature of the project was the development of a non-credit course in Case Management for RNs and the planning of a case management practice. This project was initially funded in 2002. The resubmissions for fiscal 2002-3 and 2004-5 were also funded. 2000-2002 Principal Investigator in 2000 and 2001 of the Professional Nurse Education for Disadvantaged Students grant. This grant was funded by DHHS Health Resources & Services Administration (#1D19NU40255). Initially funded in 1998 with D. Fox as Principal Investigator.
