July 1995 to December 2016 - Healthcare Therapy Services (HTS). My current title roles are Chief Clinical Officer, Corporate Compliance Officer and Director of Operations, KY/Outpatient 1
Division. I had been the sole Director of Operations (all states) which I assumed in August of 2005. I managed the clinical operations of 110 facilities in primarily 2 states. I developed the positions for the Director of Marketing and the Director of Wellness Programs. I have also been involved with software development/consulting for rehab billing and documentation specific to long term care as well as responsibility for researching, updating policy, and interpreting legislative/reimbursement changes specific to long-term care and geriatric treatment. Development of the company policy and procedure manual, training manuals, and other reference manuals are also duties I have undertaken. I started our medical review and appeal program which was then developed into a separate company. Ongoing education for employees is an important need. I implemented and provided our in-house educational system. We provided 70 hours of in house education targeted to therapists interests and the clinical needs of the populations we serve. In 2012, I developed a relationship with and online educational provider for unlimited online education for all employees. We still provide 2-4 course in person per year in-house. I implemented an annual leadership meeting for our managers and leads to teach and inspire in areas related to leadership. While at HTS I also held the positions of Occupational Therapy Traveler, Rehab Manager, and Director of Outcomes before promotion to Director of Professional Development and then to Director of Operations. I have extensive experience with adult/geriatric rehabilitation from both a clinical and management perspective. August to December of 2005 Adjunct Faculty at the University of Indianapolis, Indiana April 1994 - June 1995 - Achievement Rehab (Symphony), Director of Rehabilitation Services for a 231 bed long-term care and subacute facility. Managed OT-ST-PT staff of fourteen therapists, program development and the therapy/facility marketing program. March 1993 - May 1994 - NovaCare, staff OT specializing in geriatric rehabilitation. Duties included supervision of COTA s (3 FTE s), routine screenings, evaluations and patient treatment. 2
Feb. 1992 - June 1993 - Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, staff OT. I provided consultative occupational therapy services via Columbus Medical, Inc. for an adult MR/DD population. Responsibilities included OT evaluations and treatment including dysphagia services, development of adaptive positioning systems, in-services for case managers/direct care staff, attending committee meetings, and participation in individual performance planning for clients. May 1990 - August 1992 - Indianapolis Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, Inc. (NovaCare Outpatient). I was a staff therapist specializing in the treatment of hand injuries and upper extremity rehabilitation. Responsibilities included patient treatment (splinting, modalities, and wound care) and physician marketing. I attended significant continuing education during the time I worked here to specialize in upper extremity rehabilitation, use of modalities, and wound care. November 1989 May of 1990 St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. I was the only full time Occupational therapist responsible for assigning and prioritizing daily caseloads consisting of CVA, TBI, RA, and chronic pain for both inpatient and outpatient populations. I completed all evaluations at the Carmel satellite facility as well. I developed the OT outpatient chronic pain program and functional capacity evaluation. Professional Organizations: AOTA Indiana Representative Assembly 2012-2015 elected representative AOTA Administration and Management Special Interest Section Chair, elected position 2006-2009 AOTA Administration and Management Special Interest Section, Liaison 2003-2006 and 2009-2012 IOTA Legislative/Reimbursement Chair 1999-2002. The focus of the committee had been on upgrading our Certification Act in Indiana to licensure as well as adding changes to the current certification act to define OT Aides and required supervision. The committee succeeded in passing the OT Aide legislation and getting the supervision requirement enacted. We unsuccessfully 3
attempted a licensure bill in 2001 and 2002. However, with assistance from AOTA we executed a great grass-roots effort and have raised the consciousness level of legislators regarding occupational therapy. We also monitored many bills, made comments and changed language that would be damaging to OT practice.
