Please read the following pages for important information about our application and admissions process. This packet reviews the requirements and components of the application process, including the supplemental material you will need to provide in order to move forward in the admissions process. In addition to this packet, you will also receive two links via email: one to an online Year Up Application and another to an online academic assessment. Both must be completed prior to your interview. Important Dates and Deadlines Program Start Date: September 6 th, 2016 Final Information Session Date: July 22 nd 2016 Application Deadline: August 5th, 2016 Admission to Year Up is competitive. Meeting the above deadlines is a minimum requirement to apply and does not guarantee acceptance. 1

Please complete it in its entirety Career Track Essay Essay will be evaluated for your knowledge about the tracks and your ability to communicate and express your thoughts clearly and concisely. Career Track One Pagers These one pages should be used to help inform which career track(s) you are interested in when writing your essay. Identification Document(s) We request that you submit photocopies of these document. If you don t have access to a photocopier, bring the originals and we will make photocopies. Personal Budget Projected budget of income and expenses in September 2016. Employment and Educational History Fill out the table with details of your employment and educational history. Balancing Work and Year Up If you plan on working in September 2016, you must complete this document. Dependent Care Plan If you have a child or another dependent, you must complete this document. Transportation Plan Print out of transportation plan from Google Maps. Additional References Please provide two or three additional references. One Recommendation Form or Letter Please have the recommendation form completed by someone other than the additional references. Career Track Essay Please type an essay that addresses the question below. Your essay should be formatted as follows: No more than three pages Paragraph form Double-spaced 12 pt Times New Roman or Calibri font At Year Up Bay Area, we want all prospective participants to have a strong understanding of the four career tracks we offer: Information Technology, Quality Assurance, Project Management, and Cyber Security. Use the information on pages 4-7 and outside information to help determine which track best fits your interest. Essay Prompt: What career track(s) are you interested in studying at Year Up? Why? How will studying this help you achieve your short term and/or long term goals? What research have you done on your own to learn more about the career tracks Year Up offers? We will review your essay for content as well as your ability to express your thoughts clearly and concisely. Additionally, your essay will be evaluated for grammar, use of professional language, and writing style (e.g. sentence structure, mechanics, and use of paragraphs).
