What is Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury? Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting volunteers and organizations requiring volunteers Links individuals interested in volunteering with organizations in need of assistance Committed to promoting and encouraging volunteerism in our community Act as a central resource to individuals and non-profit organizations involved in volunteerism

Growth of Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury An initial survey conducted in January 2003 determined there was a need for a volunteer centre in the City of Greater Sudbury Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury was established in February 2003 Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury s Volunteer Centre is now well into its second year of building programs and partnerships Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury has charitable status Received a Trillium Grant for one year funding Volunteer Matching Program whereby Jodie LeBlanc was appointed Volunteer Coordinator in May/05 and program implementation is presently underway

Growth of Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury Representation of major volunteer groups, non profit and for profit organizations in the City of Greater Sudbury In July 2005, Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury was relocated to the Pioneer Manor with the official launch Board liaison has been established with City of Greater Sudbury Leisure Services Department and Volunteer Advisory Committee

Achieving our mission and goals Since the official launch, Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury s Volunteer Centre has successfully matched over 127 volunteers with organizations and agencies Support from over 80 agencies to date, media and the community at large Telephone inquiries and emails have steadily increased by approximately 60 % since the official launch in July 2005

Partnerships with Organizations Alzheimer's Society Pioneer Manor Elizabeth Centre Inner City Home of Sudbury Victorian Order of Nurses United Way Spelling Bee of Canada Older Adult Centre Cancer Society Sportlink CNIB Elgin Street Mission ALS Society The Red Cross Festival Boreal Maison la paix Success by 6 Northeast Mental Health Cntr

Support received to-date: City of Greater Sudbury Ongoing and strengthening relationship with the City of Greater Sudbury, the staff and Councillors. United Way/Centraide Sudbury and District Ongoing support since Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury s inception by providing staff, office space, financial support, board and clerical support and funding assistance. Trillium Provided Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury with a one year grant for the Matching Program.

Support received to-date: Social Planning Council Ongoing support and assistance in Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury s daily operations Assistance from and promotion through mysudbury.ca, the staff and it s partners Partnerships with non-profit agencies Continued support with new and old partnerships with Agencies throughout the City to raise awareness of Volunteerism within the City of Greater Sudbury

Future Plans for Funding Funding proposals: United Way application for funding FedNor business plan proposal HRSDC Job Creation Partnership Northern Ontario Heritage Fund marketing coordinator

Raising awareness of Volunteering Marketing and promotion will be the emphasis of Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury in 2006 Kick Off of Volunteer Week with a Fundraising Dinner on April 20 th, 2006 Introduction of Friends of Volunteer Sudbury will be a part of the Fundraising dinner in April 2006 by purchasing a ticket for dinner, guests become Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury members. Volunteer Job Fairs at local high schools during Volunteer Week of April 24 th, 2006
