If the Validity Period is, or likely to be, exceeded, this method statement MUST BE reissued. Note: The Validity Period DOES NOT indicate the duration of the work to be undertaken. HIGH VIS PPE, SAFETY BOOTS, HARD HATS, GLOVES AND SAFETY GLASSES ARE MANDATORY AND MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILST ON SITE. 1 Compliance All engineers carrying out work specified within this method statement are to append their names and signatures below to confirm they have read the method statement and the associated health and safety assessment documentation, and that they have understood and can comply with the instructions given. Ferndale Foods to provide adequate lighting in the build area. Ferndale Foods to provide adequate electrical power supplies to the build area. Ferndale Foods to supply a suitable forklift truck and driver to assist in the unloading of auxiliary parts from the delivery transport. 3.2 Customer Acceptance The customer should sign below to acknowledge receipt of the method statement and their agreement with the work process specified in Section 4 Sequence of Works below. 4 Sequence of Works 1. Site Health & Safety Induction of JBT Foodtech personnel. 2. Inspection of proposed installation site to confirm readiness for commencement of operations. Notes: JBT FoodTech personnel will be on site from approx. 07:30 to 19:30 during installations work, or such other times as agreed with the customer. 3. Unload heat exchanger and all tools/ equipment from van with the use of a forklift provided by Ferndale Foods. 4. Ferndale Foods to level floor surrounding heat exchanger area. 5. Move all equipment into work area. 6. Service engineer to lockout gas and remove burner. 7. Electric Platform to be brought into area with the use of a forklift provided by Ferndale Foods. 8. All doors to be removed from cooker at heat exchanger side. 9. Flu box to be unbolted. 10. Platform to be positioned under opening to allow for removal of old heat exchanger. 11. Platform to be raised level with heat exchanger opening. 12. Heat exchanger to be removed from chamber and back box to be cut off using a grinder. Note: All cutting, grinding and welding operations to be carried out in accordance with the customer s Hot Work permit to work procedures. 13. Old heat exchanger to be removed from area using a forklift. 14. Check heat exchanger chamber for holes and patch up if required. 15. Back box to be removed and heat exchanger to be split into 3 sections using a grinder. 16. Each section of the heat exchanger to be placed on to platform, using a forklift, and rolled along into position under heat exchanger opening. 17. Platform to be raised and heat exchanger pushed into chamber. 18. Heat exchanger to be re-welded. 19. Refit Flu box. 20. Refit all doors. 21. Remove all tools/ equipment from work area. 22. Service engineer to refit the burner. 23. Work area to be tidied and cleared. 24. The service engineer will then re-commission the cooker. Inspection of installation site to verify all works completed and removal of all equipment and waste. Job sheets and Installation Report to be completed and signed off by customer. 5 Resources Required 5.1 Personnel & Training JBT FoodTech will provide fully competent fitters to carry out the work. 5.2 Supervision On site supervision will be supplied by the JBT FoodTech installation Supervisor present. Off-site supervision will be provided by the JBT FoodTech Aftermarket Projects (Vincent Glennon). 5.3 Plant & Equipment All plant and equipment will be supplied by JBT FoodTech except where contractual agreement specifies otherwise. 5.4 Materials Except where expressly identified by the agreed requirements with the customer, all materials required for the installation will be manufactured and supplied by JBT FoodTech. 6 Risk Assessments 6.1 Environmental Specific risks will be identified from information supplied by the customer, as and when required. 6.2 Access and Egress Specific risks will be identified from information supplied by the customer, as and when required. 6.3 COSHH 6.4 Noise 6.5 Manual Handling 6.6 Other Personnel The customer is responsible for advising all non JBT FoodTech personnel present (e.g. visitors) of the current risks associated with JBT FoodTech operations during installation operations. 6.7 Working at Height The fitting and maintenance of guard rails or barrier systems, around the top of the Revorack Ovens, is not practicable during installation operations. Personal harnesses should be used where appropriate securing points are available above the Revorack Ovens location. Note: The use of personal harnesses may, in certain circumstances, constitute a greater risk to the wearer, due to the restriction in movement and the possibility of increased severity of injury in the event of a fall. 7 Control Measures 7.1 Security The customer will be advised, prior to commencement of installation operations, of JBT FoodTech personnel attending site for process, to facilitate provision of appropriate security / access identification where necessary. The customer is responsible for providing a secure lay apart area for JBT FoodTech equipment and assemblies for the duration of the installation operations. 7.2 Permits to Work Hot work will be carried out in accordance with the Customer s Permit to Work procedures, to be advised to JBT FoodTech personnel, as and when necessary. Commissioning of the gas burner will be conducted by a fully qualified JBT FoodTech Service Engineer with appropriate GAS SAFE registration. 7.3 Specialist Training No specialist training required. 7.4 Operations 8 Personal Protective Equipment 8.1 Environmental JBT FoodTech personnel will be provided with appropriate PPE (e.g. coveralls, safety boots, headgear etc.). 8.2 Work Processes All appropriate PPE will be supplied as specified in the accompanying INSTALLATION OF COOKERS AND OVENS HEALTH AND SAFETY ASSESSMENT. 8.3 Other Personnel The customer is responsible for providing all appropriate PPE for non JBT FoodTech personnel (e.g. visitors) present during installation operations. All incidents are to be reported the JBT FoodTech Aftermarket Projects (Vincent Glennon) as soon as possible after the event. If Aftermarkets Projects are unavailable, the incident must be reported to the Operations Manager (Bill Lees). 11.3 Requirement Changes Any changes to the agreed programme are to be communicated immediately with JBT FoodTech. 12 Monitoring 12.1 Monitoring The installation process will be continuously monitored by the JBT FoodTech Senior Engineer present to ensure that all operations comply with, and are completed to, the agreed programme in conjunction with a designated customer representative. 12.2 Non Compliances Any eventuality arising during operations which would result in a non-compliance with agreed procedures / timescales is to be thoroughly investigated and corrective action(s) agreed between JBT FoodTech and the customer before any further operations are undertaken.
