A History of Innovation, A Future of Success REAL ID Act changes may impact access control The REAL ID Act, passed by Congress in 2005, may not have any extensions left, and after June 7, this could cause visitors from states who are non-compliant or have an expired limited extension to be delayed or even denied entry to Fort Myer, Henderson Hall and Fort McNair. For the full story, see www.army.mil/jbmhh <http://www.army.mil/jbmhh>. For a list of Alternate Identity Documents accepted, see www.facebook.com/ JBMHH <http://www.facebook.com/jbmhh>. LGBT pride month celebration slated Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender pride month will be celebrated June 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spates Community Club ballroom, Bldg. 407, Fort Myer. The theme this year is Past, Present and Future. Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall will host this year s Military District of Washington event at which Lt. Col. Heather Mack will speak. Mack is the International and Interagency Affairs Liaison Officer, U.S. Transportation Command. Admission is free and open to military personnel and retirees, DoD civilians and family members. For more information, contact Sgt. 1st Class William Reynolds william.e.reynolds20.mil@ mail.mil and 703-696-2964 or Master Sgt. Kenny Kang kenny.h.kang.mil@mail.mil or 703-696-8729. 1

Patton Hall s 50-yard pool temporarily closed Patton Hall 's 50-yard pool is currently closed due to a mechanical filtration system failure. The 25-meter, Figure 8 and wading swimming pools are still OPEN. For more information, call 703-696-0594. Smith Gym gets new fire alarm The Cpl. Terry L. Smith Gym will have a new fire alarm system installed. Installation began Monday, June 5 and will continue through Tuesday,June 6. To facilitate this work, the women s locker room will be closed from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Help name the new police boat! Got a catchy, sassy name for the new police boat? Check out a picture on Facebook at www. facebook.com/events/101170137155966 then log into https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/tw3x6h5 and make your suggestion between now and June 16. Reminder: Great Falls is off limits It s that time of year to remind military personnel of the Off Limits status of a nearby waterway. The Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board has placed the Potomac River Great Falls area OFF LIMITS to all military personnel. Military personnel are ordered not to go into this area; the Great Falls area is posted with off limits signs applicable to everyone. This area is unsafe, and water activities in the Great Falls Potomac River Gorge area are prohibited by law in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The area along the Potomac River that extends from Sycamore Island to Chain Bridge is off limits due to the strong undertow currents. Undertows are dangerous: the surface of the water can be calm, but beneath the surface, strong water currents pull in opposite directions. There have been many deaths of service members and their families in the past. See www.army.mil/article/127982 for a 2014 Pentagram article by Jim Dresbach which is still relevant today. Call the JBM-HH Safety Office for more information at 703-696-6996 Save the date!
