Veterans Activities Vettes to Vets: On Sunday, September 25th 2011, the Paul Revere Chapter held its annual enter, Bedford, MA. With a bright, sunny, fall day, the Paul Revere Chapter (PRC), with the cooking support of the Hanscom Sergeants Association, prepared and served up a delicious barbecue for area Veterans. This was the eighth on the Bedford, Massachusetts Veteran Administration grounds, which over 370 Corvettes were on display. This event is also widely known as the Vettes to Vets event. Chapter, Veterans Affairs lead, Dick Codling led 60 volunteers from PRC and from the Hanscom Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) to help make this event a success. 1,300 Veterans and volunteers were served a delicious meal of sausages, hamburgers, salads and wonderful sheet contributed over 200 hours in planning and working and $1,600 in funds to purchase food, drinks and paper products for this great event. Wonderful patriotic music filled the air by an all Veteran band; singer Jimmy Cate sang God Bless America and members of the North Shore Corvettes Club and members from other New England, New York and Canadian clubs caravanned onto the VA common with over 370 Corvettes for the Veterans to enjoy. Many thanks go to TSgt Kristin Hays, SMSgt Gene Brandt, SSgt James Caruso, SSgt Catherine Hreben, Chief Rainy and the Hanscom Sergeants Association for leading the cooking and driving logistics. Many thanks to Ron Morneau, Jim Smith, and Karen Blandini in organizing the Corvettes and their many donations of personal products for the Veterans. Event organizer, Richard Codling, reported that AFSA served over 1,500 Sausages, Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, 45 gallons of hot baked beans, 1,600 dessert serving, 200 pounds of potato salad and lots of snacks and cold drinks. Total attendance was estimated at over 2,000 of which about 1,500 went thru the two food serving lines. 377 classic Corvettes from New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada formed up for viewing and awards on the Bedford VA hospital center field The total cost of the food and supplies was nearly $4,200, plus the AFSA cost for three grills, propane, ice, and coolers. The volunteer contributions from the Corvette members was over $3,800. Excess cakes, sausages, and hot dogs were given to two VA groups (i.e. VA Hospital and Lowell VCCC). Other food items were taken to "The Chelmsford Pantry" for distribution to needy families. thousands of dollars worth of brand new clothing and personal items. Mr Ron Morneau,

Your Association along with the Sergeants Association have been such fantastic partners to our Vettes to Vets gang for this extremely successful event to honor and help those who have given up so much to protect our freedoms. When we see how much all of you put into helping the hospital, it only serves to energize us all the more. I am real happy to hear that my Corvette friends were generous in helping to defray the cost of the food. Here is hoping we all have the energy to keep this great partnership going in support of this important mission. What an incredible event, and what an incredible outpouring of support from the Paul Revere Chapter, the AFSA, and the Corvette Club. pose with Joe Magnone, then President of the Paul Revere Chapter The crowd gathers for the annual Vettes to Vets picnic
