Application for Ahmadiyya Talent Award Objective Under the guidance of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih V [aba], the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community annually recognizes top talented members of the Jama at who have excelled in their studies and/or have achieved outstanding success in their professional field. Application Procedure There are 3 categories of the award without am associated monetary gift: Talent Award Gold Medal: Top candidates receive a medal and certificate on stage at Jalsa. {top 3% of their group} Talent Recognition Certificate: The next best receive a certificate on stage at Jalsa.{top 5% of their group} Talent Award Finalist: Certificate recognizing good achievements is mailed to the candidates. {top 10% of their group} Guidelines and Criteria For educational categories, the applicant must have completed their course of study within the past two years in the US and cannot apply more than once for the same educational category. For the professional category, there is no time limit for including previous accomplishments to highlight the progress and achievements that have been made in the respective field. Professional applications may be resubmitted in years if additional progress/achievements merit another review. Applicants who have not completed a degree [e.g. middle school, 10 th grade, associate degree] are ineligible. The selection committee will assess multiple criteria, including but not limited to: High school completion SAT/ACT scores, other standardized national exams, high school GPA, class rank, scholarships received, leadership and extracurricular activities Undergraduate completion GPA, class rank, post graduate entrance exams, other standardized national exams, scholarships, honors and awards achieved, and publications printed Postgraduate completion - GPA, class rank, post graduate entrance exams, scholarships, honors and awards achieved, publications printed, thesis and other research publications if applicable Working Professionals recognition by industry peers and/or industry associations; contributions to the field; promotions and advancements in the professional field; publications, presentations, awards, and patents received where applicable Dates May 15, 1, 2013 2016 2015 Postmarked applications are due. Application Procedure Checklist and Required Documentation This application form is for all students having completed a course of study and professionals who have made a significant achievement in their respective fields. For educational categories, only students who have completed a course of education e.g. high school, undergraduate college, master, Ph.D., etc. are eligible for the talent award. Copies or scans of other documents are acceptable. Kindly make sure all required documents are submitted in a timely fashion. I performed really well in my college. How do I apply for the Ahmadiyya talent award? Application is available on the web http://www.ahmadiyya.us/departments/taleem. Please follow all the instructions on the application and submit it before the deadline. 2. My son/daughter stood first in their 8 th grade and also won many other awards. Is he/she eligible for the award? No. The Ahmadiyya Talent award is given on completion of high school degree, undergraduate degree, masters, doctorate, or professional achievements. Please refer to application form for details. 3. I missed the deadline to submit the application. Can I still apply? Please respect the deadline. 4. What are the different categories of the Talent Award and what are their criteria? Ahmadiyya Talent award, USA aims to recognize students and professionals at the top of their class, equivalent to first, second and third position holders in Pakistan. The award is recommended by a committee and the criteria and categories as follows serve as guidelines: a. Ahmadiyya Talent Award Gold Medal: This is given to the best candidates. They are typically in the top 3 percent of their group e.g. SAT >97%, first in school, cumulative GPA of 4 from a good university, top of class in graduate studies, professionals with national recognitions, etc. They would receive a gold medal and certificate on stage at the time of Jalsa. b. Ahmadiyya Talent Recognition Award This is given to the 2 nd best candidates. They are typically in the top 5% of their group e.g. SAT 95%, GPA 3.8, professionals with some national and local recognition, etc. They would receive a certificate on stage at the time of Jalsa. c. Ahmadiyya Talent Award Finalist This is given to candidates who were strongly considered for the award but were not given as they were felt to be below the top 5% of their group. They would have their certificates mailed to them and their names would be displayed during Jalsa. 5. Do you accept scanned, soft copies of the application? The application should only be mailed as directed. Talent award committee, at their discretion, will occasionally ask applicants to send in scanned documents. 6. I submitted my application before the deadline but never received an acknowledgement. What should I do? If you have not received an acknowledgement by June 1, please contact the committee on the email address provided in the application. 7. When should I expect to know if I won the award or not? You will be notified in the week before Jalsa. 8. I achieved a distinction in a country outside USA but would like to apply for the talent award here since I now live in the US. What is the procedure for me? Degrees outside the US are not within our area of expertise. You should contact the Taleem secretary in the respective country. 9. I am an award recipient in Pakistan and the Nizarat Taleem has issued me a number too. How can I receive my award in USA? This is beyond the realm of Talent Award Committee in USA. Please contact Nizarat-e-Taleem and Hazrat Khalifut-Masih s {aba} office. In individual cases, the following process occurred at 2012 Jalsa USA: a. Members obtained written permission from Hazur {aba} b. Members obtained the medal and certificate from Nizarat-e-Taleem, Pakistan and delivered it to the Talent Award Committee in USA, 2 weeks prior to Jalsa. c. The US talent award committee was contacted and we obtained administrative approval from Ameer sahib and made arrangements for the award to be given by Hazur {aba} at Jalsa Salana, USA. 10.
