MID-AMERICA COUNCIL BOY SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Please be sure to use only this form when applying. Application Deadline Thursday, June 30, 2016 To ensure that your application is reviewed and processed as quickly and accurately as possible, please read and follow these procedures and requirements as written. All scholarship checks will be mailed directly to academic institutions. All applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Currently registered and active in a unit within the Mid-America Council 2. Enrolled in college/other institution of higher learning If applying for multiple Mid-America Council Scholarships, please check all you qualify for and submit one application. Robert Mueller Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship - A one (1) year scholarship in the amount of $2,500 awarded to one recipient. To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria: 1. Eagle Scout currently registered in a unit. (If you are unsure, please contact Scouter Services at (402) 431-9BSA). 2. Attending an institute of higher learning in fall (does not have to be a 4-year university can be a community college or occupational school). 3. Winners must attend Council Awards Reception January 2017 Rev. John P. Schlegel Creighton Eagle Scout Scholarship A one (1) year scholarship in the amount of $3,000 awarded to one recipient. To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria: 1. Eagle Scout currently registered in a unit. (If you are unsure, please contact Scouter Services at (402) 431-9BSA). 2. High school graduate enrolled, or already attending Creighton University. 3. Winners must attend Council Awards Reception January 2017 Charles W. Sigerson, Jr. Eagle Scout Scholarship A one (1) year scholarship in the amount of $3,000 awarded to one recipient. To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria: 1. Eagle Scout currently registered in a unit. (If you are unsure, please contact Scouter Services at (402) 431-9BSA). 2. Winners must attend Council Awards Reception January 2017 Summer Camp Staff Higher Education Scholarship A two (2) year scholarship in the total amount of $9,000 awarded to one (1) recipient. ($2,500 awarded year one (1) and $6,500 awarded year two (2)). To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria: 1. Scout must be a member of Summer Camp staff (Cedars or Little Sioux Scout Ranch) for two consecutive summers 2. Scholarships are earned only for those summers of complete employment (must be two consecutive summers) 3. Camp staff members in good standing do not include: A. Members dismissed from employment. Dismissal voids all previously accumulated scholarships. B. Members who sign a probationary contract because of previous sub-standard employment; a staff member, who completes a satisfactory summer while on probation, though not eligible for the scholarship amount for the summer of probation, may utilize the previous scholarship amount. 4. Winners must attend Council Awards Reception January 2017 Gardner A one (1) year scholarship awarded to two (2) recipients in the amount of $500 each. Scholarship will be given to a camp staff member in good standing. To be eligible for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria: 1. Scholarships are earned only for those summers of complete employment. 2. Camp staff members in good standing do not include: 3. Members dismissed from employment. Dismissal voids all previously accumulated scholarships. 4. Members who sign a probationary contract because of previous sub-standard employment; a staff member, who completes a satisfactory summer while on probation, though not eligible for the scholarship amount for the summer of probation, may utilize the previous scholarship amount.. Nani-Ba-Zhu Camp Staff Scholarship A one (1) year scholarship awarded to two (2) recipients in the amount of $500 each; two recipients in the amount of $1,000 each and a one (1) year scholarship awarded to one (1) recipient in the amount of $1,500. To be eligible for the NBZ scholarship you must meet the following criteria: 1. Must be a second year camp staff member (either Cedars or Little Sioux Scout Ranch) 2. Must be a member of the NBZ Tribe and participate in Nani-Ba-Zhu ceremonies. PROCEDURE The Scout applying for a scholarship must: Complete the application personally. Enclose only the items requested in the requirements (no biographies, resumes, or supplementary lists of activities). Include the applicant s name on each attachment in the upper right hand corner. Must have standard recommendation form completed by a non-family member (not required for Nani-Ba- Zhu Scholarships). Separate sheet containing essay questions. Submit all supplemental information with the application form to ensure that all items are available for review at the same time.
