TYRE INDUSTRY SUMMIT 2015 Message from summit organisers It is with a real sense of excitement that we invite you to participate in New Zealand s inaugural tyre industry summit, focusing on sustainable outcomes for end-of-life tyres. This comes hot on the heels of the 2014 Rubber Recycling Symposium held in Montreal, Quebec which for the first time, after 20+ years of active stewardship for end-of-life tyres had the entire tyre supply chain in one place, discussing driving innovation to drive markets. President of the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada, Glenn R. Maidment, observed there were some real light bulb moments that came from the discussion around the changing tyre profile/characteristics and the future investment in processing to adapt to change. Our own tyre industry and stakeholders have a remarkable opportunity to learn from Canada and elsewhere to get it right first time with regards to industry-wide ELT stewardship in New Zealand. Let s not wait 20 years to start collaborating for positive change; let s start right now! We ve secured some exceptional experience and knowledge with our keynote speakers, presenters and panel participants. However for this event to be a success we need your participation. A well informed and represented industry is the key to progress for end-of-life tyres, so it s up to all of us to be involved. This industry summit would not have come to fruition without the support of our sponsors. We thank them for providing the foundation for what we plan to be an enduring event. Best wishes Adele Rose Chief Executive, 3R Group adele@3r.co.nz Paul Evans Chief Executive, WasteMINZ paul@wasteminz.org.nz About 3R At 3R we see waste as an opportunity for both environmental and economic benefit.
