College of Health and Human Development These scholarships have been established to assist students majoring in programs offered by the College of Health and Human Development. Note: The notification process does not include a notification to all applicants but only to the selected recipient(s) of the scholarship. The expected date of notification is the end of May. College of Health and Human Development-Scholarship Amount: $500 for undergraduate award and $500 for graduate award (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship was established and funded by the College of Health and Human Development to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated strong academic performance and leadership to the College. Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing majors in the College of Health and Human Development who are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree, and who have not previously received a College award. One award at each level after one semester of enrollment at Cal State Fullerton. Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment minimum 3.0 GPA College, Departmental or Community Service Participation or Leadership Financial Need http://www.fullerton.edu/financialaid/_resources/pdf/scholarships/application.pdf answering all 7 questions and sign the certification; 2) Provide a résumé documenting leadership positions held within the College or the University (e.g., clubs, organizations, InterClub Council) and 3) If receiving Financial Aid, attach a copy of your award to the application. Ray Scholarship Fund Amount: $500 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is funded by the parents of Timothy S. Ray to honor his memory and to assist students who are preparing for a career in the helping professions. Open To: This scholarship is open to continuing full-time juniors and seniors majoring in Human Services or Child Development at Cal State Fullerton.

Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors. Criteria: The award may be for either volunteer efforts or for dedication above the required level in paid employment. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors.

Criteria: Must be for international experiences during the time that the individual was a CHAD major and may be for either volunteer activities or dedication above the required level in international practicum course or study abroad experience. Application Deadline: Early March check department office for 2018 deadline The James L Gilmore Outstanding Senior-Child and Adolescent Studies Student Amount: $250 (subject to funding) Established by: This award was established by James L Gilmore to recognize a senior level student in Child and Adolescent Studies who exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship, service to the community and/or university, and commitment to education. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors who have attained senior status by completing 90 units. McLaren Award for the Arts in Child Development Amount: $250 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is funded by the McLaren Endowment to recognize the creative implementation of art instruction and/or production in working with children and youth. Ramirez Early Childhood Education Award Amount: $250 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is funded by the TitanShops Textbook Requisition Rewards Program in honor of Judith V. Ramirez. This award recognizes a Child and Adolescent Development major who has demonstrated special dedication and commitment to improving the quality of services for children ages birth through 5 years. Established by: This scholarship is funded by the Child and Adolescent Studies department to recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to the Department of Child and Adolescent Studies and/or Cal State Fullerton through unpaid endeavors. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors. Criteria: Volunteer efforts Application Procedure: 1) Complete the application packet available in the mid-spring from the Department of Child and Adolescent Studies, EC-503, (657) 278-8458 Application Deadline: Early March check department office for 2018 deadline Counseling Broadbent & Browning Scholarship in Counseling Amount: $1,000 Established by: This scholarship is funded by CSUF Emeritus faculty member Dr. Lee Broadbent in memory of his wife Bobbe Browning and awarded to students who are enrolled in practicum. Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing students enrolled in the Masters of Science in Counseling program. Preference is given to: Students working in a higher education setting (at CSUF or other colleges and universities); First generation college students; and Single parents. Criteria: Financial need Commitment to improving the quality of life for children and/or adults in the community Academic achievement: with a minimum 3.5 GPA in graduate level classes, with all grades at a B or higher, and cannot have any outstanding incompletes Active member in the Graduate Counseling Student Association (GCSA) enrolled in the practicum series (530, 584, 590 or 591) Application Procedure: 1) Log into your CSUF portal (be sure to use the new portal) and click on the Scholarships button. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the Scholarship Application. 2) Complete a FAFSA application (or have one on-file) for establishing financial need (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) 3) Write a letter indicating qualifications for the scholarship using the above criteria including level of need and how this scholarship money might be used. Letter must include information about the student s practicum site. 4) Provide a copy of the most recent unofficial transcript showing GPA. 5) Submit completed application(s) and materials (if required) to the Department of Counseling Office EC-405 Application Deadline: November 12 Health Science

Jessie Jones Lifespan Wellness Fellowship Amount: $1,000 Established by: This fellowship was established by Jessie Jones and Roberta Rikli to to promote the engagement of undergraduate students in high impact health promotion practices that improve the health of underserved communities. Open to: Continuing undergraduate Health Science majors who have enrolled in an HESC 495 internship to start the following semester, and who will work in an underserved community. Leslie and Dick Richards Endowment Achievement Scholarship Amount: $2,500 (Subject to Funding) Established by: This scholarship was endowed by Drs. Leslie and Dick Richards of Anaheim, CA, and is awarded to students to assist them in meeting educational expenses. Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing enrolled students in the departments of Kinesiology, Health Science and Social Work who are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree. Established by: This scholarship was established by the Health Science Department in honor of benefactor Kay T. McCarty to honor scholastic achievement and outstanding research ability. Open to: graduate or undergraduates in the Health Science Department who are working in a research capacity. Application Deadline: April 6 Marie Kalmantis Health Science Memorial Scholarship Amount: $250 Established by: This scholarship is established by the Health Science Department. The scholarship is in honor and memory of Marie Kalmantis, a former MPH graduate student who passed away. Open to: The scholarship is open to continuing Master of Public Health graduate students who have completed (or in the process of completing) at least 6 units toward their advanced degree. Application Deadline: April 6 Iran Navaie Community Service Scholarship Amount: $250 (2 awards) Established by: This scholarship is in honor of a beloved mother and grandmother, and is presented to an undergraduate student to provide financial assistance for academic excellence and outstanding leadership and community service qualities. Iran Navaie touched many in her life. She left a great impression that will linger with all who knew and loved her forever. She was an active member in the community and strongly believed in leadership, helping others, and giving back to the community. Additionally, she was a strong advocate for higher education. She contributed a portion of her income to help ill patients who were having financial difficulty, abused women, as well as providing food, clothes, and toys to orphan children. An example of her service was providing shelter to needy individuals.

Open to: The scholarship is open to a Health Science major who exemplifies leadership through campus and/or community involvement. The applicant has helped a community envision the future, identify paths to success and carry out a vision. The applicant has exhibited integrity, collaboration, intellectual, emotional and social growth. Titan Shops scholarship funding is awarded to academic departments biannually. The award recognizes graduating Health Science majors who have demonstrated exemplary academic performance. Open to: The award is open to graduating health science majors. Criteria: 3.9 4.0 GPA summa cum laude Application Procedure: By department chair undergraduate GPA review only Nomination Deadline: Commencement honors list distribution - spring semester Health Science Department Service Award Amount: $250 Established by: This scholarship is funded by the Titan Shops and administered by the Health Science Department. Titan Shops scholarship funding is awarded to academic departments biannually. The award recognizes a Health Science major or Master of Public Health graduate student who has demonstrated solid academic performance, as well as service to the department and community. Michael Russell Professor Emeritus. Dr. Sandra Russell contributed to the training of group leaders from 1983 to 1993 and this scholarship was created in memory of what she inspired. Open to: This scholarship is open to current students who have been or wish to be group leaders for any of the Human Services 300 Character and Conflict classes.
