DEPARTMENT OF NEW MEXICO 2017-2018 MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM I have reviewed the National Commander-in-Chief s membership program for the upcoming year and in full step with his guidance and am echoing it in the statements below. I will not go into extreme detail about his program but I encourage each and every one of you to review it online. There are great incentives and further information that should be of interest to you. Membership Mission Recruit, retain, and mentor a stable membership base, including all generations of veterans, which is well-versed in institutional knowledge and actively involved at all levels of the organization. To show continued growth and thrive through the dedication and involvement of members at all levels of the organization. Introduction For the past several years, the VFW has been relatively successful in recruiting members aged 39 and younger. The only way to make this success permanent is to retain those members, recover past members, and recruit new members. We must improve the way we communicate with our members at all levels of the organization. In many cases, we have lost touch with our members. We need to know who they are and what their needs are. Let s get back to the basics our first priority is taking care of our members and the veteran community as a whole. Membership Goals 1. Build a strong organization for the future. 2. Work together to achieve the VFW s goals. Membership Mission Recruit new and recover unpaid members Retain existing membership Increase life membership Increase legacy life membership

Membership Incentives The first Post to receive 100% membership in their division by June 30 th receives a $100 VFW Store gift card The highest membership percentage department wide by 15 April 2018 will receive a $100 VFW Store gift card All Posts who reach 100% membership by June 30 th will receive a $50 VFW Store gift card #1 Recruiter for the Department by June 30 th will receive a debossed VFW leather jacket (must be over 100 recruited/reinstated) Anyone who has over 15 recruits by June 30 th will receive an debossed VFW padfolio and organizer
