Course Description BUS 304 is a 4-unit course that consists of on-campus lectures on global supply chain foundations with focus on Brazil as a successful model with its recent economic developments and its supply chain logistics.
Course Objectives Identify the product value chain. Identify the global supply chain management and its principles. Introduce concepts of international distribution and exports. Develop an understanding of the challenges and opportunities of doing business in Brazil. Develop an understanding of the culture of Brazil as it relates to developing business partnerships.
Topics Understanding global supply chains. Designing global supply chain networks. Coordination in a global supply chain. Sourcing decisions in a global supply chain. Warehousing and logistics in global supply chain. Strategic and operational alignment of global business practices. The role of packaging in global supply chains. Brazil s economy and supply chain overview Trip planning and project requirements.
Going to Brazil The one-week visit to Florianópolis (Brazil) as well as the local tour aims at exposing students to examples of previously mentioned practices. Students will analyze and report on the Brazilian supply chain companies visited during the trip in light of what has been discussed in the course.

Make sure your passport is not expiring. It must be good for six months AFTER the program's END date. If not, renew it now. Brazil requires a visa, and the agency that is organizing our program will provide all applicants with instructions on how to apply. You will need your passport in hand at the time you apply for the visa.
