Development Coordinator The Development Coordinator is an important role supporting the Biennale of Sydney s fundraising initiatives. The successful applicant will be part of a team of highly motivated, specialist staff and play a key role in the organisation. A proven track record in event coordination is essential. Reporting to the Head of Development, the Development Coordinator will work closely with the Benefaction Manager, Partnerships Manager and Grants Coordinator coordinating stakeholder events in the lead-up and during the 21 st Biennale of Sydney (2018). The role is also responsible for assisting with the delivery of a crowdsourced fundraising strategy and planned giving program. The position offers the rare opportunity to work in a small team and be involved in the delivery of one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary art in the Asia-Pacific region. The Biennale of Sydney The Biennale of Sydney is a not for profit, incorporated company limited by guarantee. Since its inception in 1973, the Biennale has delivered 20 major exhibitions, which have featured more than 1,800 artists from over 80 countries. The Biennale also produces associated publications, public programs and specialised education activities for students and school groups. Most Biennale programs are presented free to the public, with visitation regularly reaching over 600,000 per exhibition. The Biennale of Sydney engages Australian and international audiences with contemporary art from around the world, promotes cultural exchange and inspires audiences to experience art, themselves and their world in new and creative ways. Purpose and Mission The Biennale s Constitution formally outlines the company s mission as follows: a) to invigorate Australian visual culture, to create links between Australian artists and the art world, and to present innovative art exhibitions and programs which enrich our lives, challenge our thinking and stimulate our creativity; b) to encourage a spirit of experimentation and investigation and aim to generate enthusiasm for the creative expression of fresh ideas and interest in the imaginative use of new techniques and media; and c) to offer unique opportunities for the public to engage directly with a wide range of new art from all parts of the world. Objectives and Vision In the 2016 2020 period the Biennale of Sydney will strengthen its local, regional, national and international profile as a leading contemporary art event by delivering three major exhibitions, extensive public and education programs, publications and innovative digital platforms, all underpinned by fresh curatorial perspectives and rigour. The Biennale will continue to support Australian and international artists to develop and present innovative, high quality and experimental work and foster international cultural exchange. It will contribute to Sydney s reputation as a creative and cultural hub and act as a catalyst for ideas through year-round engagement with audiences throughout Australia, increasing opportunities for participation in programs via new technologies and expanding the vision of what contemporary art exhibitions can be. Selection Criteria Based on an application addressing the Essential Criteria, Curriculum Vitae and, for selected candidates, an interview and references, the Biennale of Sydney needs to be satisfied that the applicant meets the following criteria: Essential Criteria Proven experience in the coordination and delivery of a range of events Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a wide range of internal and external contacts Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database and record management Proven high-level attention to detail and follow through with an ability to work with minimal supervision and to exercise initiative Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure in a busy environment Excellent interpersonal / client skills Desirable Criteria A relevant tertiary qualification in event management, marketing and/or equivalent experience Previous fundraising experience Understanding of the operations of contemporary art/cultural organisations Knowledge of contemporary art in Australia and internationally Applying for the Role Applications marked Confidential and addressing the selection criteria must be received by 5pm on Thursday, 8 June 2017. Position Description Position title: Reports to: Salary Development Coordinator Head of Development $55,000, plus 9.5% employer s superannuation contribution Contract term: Full time contract position from July 2017 to 30 June 2018 Duties and Responsibilities Events Crowdsourced Fundraising and Planned Giving Assist in developing and delivering a range of events for Corporate Partners, Benefactors, Friends and Biennale VIPs Assist with invitations, RSVPs and guest lists Coordinate acquisition, loyalty and reactivation campaigns for donors ($2 $1,999) In consultation with the Marketing team, assist in planning, launching, coordinating and evaluating a planned giving program Corporate Partnerships Assist the Partnerships Manager in research and preparation for corporate partner prospecting and negotiations Provide varied event and logistical support for all partner activations including events and tours Assist the Partnerships Manager in developing and executing content projects, including digital integrated marketing, for corporate partners With the Marketing team, prepare and schedule content for partners in Biennale communications, adhering to strict deadlines and approval processes With the Partnerships Manager, maintain the 21 st Biennale of Sydney Partner Directory Distribute highlight media clippings to partners at various stages of the exhibition Benefaction, Friends and the VIP programs Assist in the development and execution of the benefaction program fundraising appeals and initiatives Prepare written communications and respond appropriately to enquiries about the Friends and the VIP programs Administer receipts, proposals and invoices as required Administration Assist with overseeing all incoming information and material relating to Biennale supporters Maintain contacts in the Biennale s relationship database (Salesforce) Obtain logo approval from corporate partners and foundations as required Assist with the distribution of catalogues and relevant materials for corporate partners, benefactors and cultural funders Assist with office administration tasks including preparation of internal and external reports, filing and other duties as required Venue Management Assist at venues as required during the 21 st Biennale of Sydney Coordinate donation boxes at non-museum venues INFORMATION PACKAGE: DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR 4
