Board of Governors May 7-11, 2010 bc

Reinforce Israeli society by ensuring Israeli discoveries remain Israeli

Join Us Dear Governors and Friends, Our upcoming Board of Governors meeting promises to be a defining moment in Tel Aviv University s 54-year existence. Members from Israel and abroad will decide upon important constitutional changes that will determine not only the future scope of Board engagement with the University, but also the balance of powers within TAU s governance structure. These deliberations will feed the first theme of the 2010 meeting: Academic Leadership. We need to define goals for reaching academic eminence and rally around them, both collectively and individually. Leadership goes shoulder-to-shoulder with our second theme Young Faculty Recruitment. We ll be launching a new, three-year international campaign to bring back to Israel 60 of the very best young Israeli researchers who are working abroad today. We view brain gain as vitally important for securing Israel s academic, scientific and technological edge. To move these initiatives forward, we need to hear your ideas and receive your wise counsel. We re counting on seeing you this May. Sincerely, Mr. Robert Goldberg Chairman, Board of Governors Prof. Joseph Klafter President
