INTRODUCTION OF JCI HONG KONG 1 JCI members from all over the world are involved in business networking activities, and JCI Hong Kong business programs enable young people to have an active role and voice in the business community and to learn how to conduct business through their leadership skills and become successful leaders in the business industry. MESSAGE FROM NATIONAL PRESIDENT ANTHONY LEUNG Dear JCI Hong Kong Business Academy Student! Welcome to this wonderful journey! A journey to give you massive insights on start up business in Hong Kong! JCI Hong Kong Business Academy is one of the newly started, but important program that JCIHK in the. Through seminars, business matching, pitching and incubation center visits, we would like to promote the Hong Kong business environment for all young leaders who are thinking to start their adventure to be an Entrepreneur. Hong Kong is a land without natural resources, and the key factor of making Hong Kong success is we have many highly educated and creative people. PMQ SPEAKERS Tommy Li Designer & Creative Director, Tommy Li Design Workshop Tommy Li is the branding designer/consultant for the generation renowned for his Black Humor and Audacious Visual designs. Spanning Hong Kong, China, Japan and Italy, he is one of few designers to have penetrated the international market. Over the years, Tommy was received more than 550 awards. Graduated from the School of Design in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he has been selected as a respectable individual in Artist of the Year Awards 1997. While ten years later, he is honored by his school as Outstanding PolyU Alumni. 2009, Tommy Li Design Workshop was selected by Chinabico.com to be the best top 10 Branding Company in China. His most distinct achievement in recent year, has been presented a Gold Pencil award by The One Show in New York. Same year, he was awarded World Outstanding Chinese Award from United World Chinese. Tommy is one of the few Hong Kong designers who can carve out a quadro career in Hong Kong, China, Italy and Japan. He start his business in Osaka, Japan as early as 1993 and subsequently moved to Tokyo to co-operate with Ading Co. Limited in 1997 followed by published the VQ Magazine in 1999 which is the bilingual (English & Chinese) visual art bookazine in Asia. Agosto, a best-selling design magazine in Japan, has cited Tommy as the only graphic designer with potential to have an influential impact on Hong Kong in the next decade. Tommy Li becomes a member of AGI in 2005 (a globally renowned alliance of designers, which it limited its membership to 300 persons only). Two years ago, he established the first creative-oriented web radio podcasting - Radio dada. Prudence Mak Founder of Chocolate Rain Fashion and accessories designer Prudence Mak opened a store in SoHo with her first collection, Chocolate Rain. Now her adorable products are in every corner of Hong Kong and beyond, even appearing in the British Museum. Mak tells Emily Wu about how she went from an aspiring designer to a noted local entrepreneur. 10 Moderator for the PMQ Visit Jeffery Au Partner of Incu-Lab Jeffery Au belongs to the 1st generation of creative-force in e-business, e-content and mobile business when the technology, internet and telecommunication boon started in the exciting 90 s. He is involved in the development and advocacy of most of the pioneer digital products and services in Internet s earliest stage. He is the partner and startup care-taker in the angel setup of Angels and Incubators, developing talents and incubating startups in the community of startups, digitial entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs. He serves this community through performing as the judge in various awards and various roles in other entrepreneurship and incubation platforms.

GOOD LAB SPEAKERS Dr Jimmy Chiang Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Invest Hong Kong The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Dr Jimmy Chiang is Associate Director-General of Invest Hong Kong, the government department responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment into Hong Kong. He joined Invest Hong Kong in August 2003 and was promoted to Head of Tourism and Hospitality in September 2010. He took up the ADG position in April, in which he oversees the Department s investment promotion strategies in the areas of Creative Industries, Consumer Products, Transport and Industrial, Tourism and Hospitality and Business and Professional Services. Prior to joining Invest Hong Kong, Dr Chiang worked with a Hong Kong-based multinational transportation company in a number of different managerial roles for five years. Dr Chiang has a doctorate in hotel and tourism management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He also has a master s degree in business administration from The University of British Columbia and a bachelor s degree in social sciences from The University of Hong Kong. Ms. Ada Wong, JP Convenor, Make A Difference & Convenor and Director, The Good Lab Ada Wong has led a varied career as solicitor, educator and social entrepreneur. She is a staunch advocate of social innovation, creative education and cultural development. 11 Ada founded the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture (HKICC), a unique non-profit organization whose mission is education innovation and a creative civil society. Among other projects, HKICC founded Hong Kong s only art high school, the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity and Ada is the School s supervisor. She also founded the Make A Difference (MaD) initiative (www.mad.asia), a continuing platform to groom the next generation of creative leaders and innovative changemakers in Asia. Ada s latest social venture is The Good Lab (www.goodlab.hk), an inspiring co-working space and a collaborative community for social innovation and entrepreneurship development in Hong Kong. Ada was an elected member of the Urban Council and Wan Chai District Council between 1995 and 2008 with the last four years as Chairperson of the Wan Chai District Council. Ada received her BA (Hons) from Pomona College, California, USA and M Ed from the University of Hong Kong. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Lingnan University and Hong Kong Institute of Education.

GOOD LAB SPEAKERS Dr. George Cautherley Director, Incu-Lab George was born in Hong Kong and part of the fifth generation of his family to have lived and worked in China. After education in the UK, George returned to Hong Kong in 1964 to pursue a career which involved marketing and distributing medical devices and pharmaceuticals to healthcare professionals. In the late 1970s he established his own enterprise in the same field and expanded his business into manufacturing, setting up facilities to produce diagnostic reagents kits and pharmaceuticals in China. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration by Napier University in 2006. In 2008 George was made Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to public policy development in Hong Kong. Professor Simon K. W. Tam Assistant professor in Entrepreneurship at the Business School of the University of Hong Kong Simon K. W. Tam is an assistant professor in Entrepreneurship at the Business School of the University of Hong Kong. He received his B.Soc.Sc. from the University of Hong Kong, his M.Sc. from The University of Manchester, and his is studying his Ph.D at the London School of Economics. He taught at the Hong Kong Polytechnic before joining the University of Hong Kong. He is known for his research in Comparative Business Systems, Chinese Business and Entrepreneurship. He published about ten conference papers and book chapters on these topics. He is now on course to produce a new theory on entrepreneurship, after conducting over ten years of longitudinal field studies on entrepreneurs across ten industries. 12 He consults and conducts executive and entrepreneurial development programs for local and multinational companies in this Region. He is now evolving a new approach to the development of entrepreneurs, in line with the new theory of entrepreneurship. social happy hours speaker Alfred Ng Founder of Flyday Flyday.hk is a popular local website with Facebook fans page that provides readers with a range of travel deals and travel related information. Alfred and Herman launched Flyday.HK in 2012, and now flyday.hk become one of the popular local website that provides readers with a range of hot travel deals as well as travel tips and related information. Also, the dedicated Facebook Fan Page was set up shortly after to allow easy and regular engagement with up to 400,000 Flyday visitors.

SPEAKERS The Honourable Nicholas W. Yang Advisor to the Chief Executive on Innovation and Technology Non-official Member of the Executive Council of HKSAR Aged 59, Mr Yang graduated from the California Institute of Technology in the United States in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, followed by a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University in 1978 and 1982 respectively. Mr Yang worked as a senior design engineer for Intel Corporation in 1978 and subsequently as a strategic management consultant for Bain & Company. ITC funded HK$2M through Small Entrepreneur Research Assistance Programme (SERAP) for their design improvement. Hand of Hope is a therapeutic device that may help patients regain hand mobility through motor relearning. It facilitates muscle re-education by both amplifying and rewarding a patient with desired motion in concert with his or her own muscle signal. The patient can self-initiate movement through their often very weak voluntary EMG signals that indicate intention to move. The system then filters and processes data to a motor on the brace to enable desired motion.

INTRODUCTION OF JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL HONG KONG Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (JCIHK)(formerly named as Hong Kong Junior Chamber ), inaugurated in 1950, is affiliated with the worldwide leadership development organization The Junior Chamber International (JCI). JCI has a worldwide membership of over 200,000 and more than 100 countries around the world.
