Gmail - [test] Eugene's Train Derailment (Note: this is in lieu of our usual monthly gathering at the Department of State Lands with the NoLNG Exports statewide coalition to tell Gov. Brown, Treasurer Wheeler, and Sec. of State Atkins to shut down the (already dead) Jordan Cove Energy Project and Pacific Connector Pipeline.) Standing in Solidarity Against New Pipelines On Monday evening, September 26, Eugene City Council voted to approve a resolution stating that Eugene supports the Standing Rock Sioux in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Yay! According to Bill McKibben s New Republic article on September 22nd, Recalculating the Climate Math the number of new pipelines we can build if we want to keep the average global temperature under 2 degrees centigrade is ZERO. https://newrepublic.com/article/136987 /recalculating-climate-math 3 of 10 10/1/16, 12:36 PM

Eugene understands the planetary emergency we re in and we re implementing a groundbreaking, science-based Climate Recovery Ordinance! We need a constant presence at Eugene City Council meetings, 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Can you plan to come once or twice this year, and be a new face and voice to let our elected leaders know we mean business? We will bring talking points. We can do this! Oslo aims for 50% reduction in GHGs in 4 years. When someone tells me "it's not feasible", I 5 of 10 10/1/16, 12:36 PM
will be pointing them toward this example. This is what it looks like when a city understands the planetary emergency we're in and sets an appropriate ghg reduction target. We can achieve this scale of reductions (or get damn close!) if and when we set our minds to it. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-climatechange-oslo-iduskcn11y1rk - Matt McRae, Climate Policy Analyst, Our Children s Trust Toxic Trade : TPP and TTIP Sierra Club s new Toxic Trade interactive map plots over 400 dirty fossil fuel projects across 48 states, some through the Pacific Northwest, each of which would present extraordinary barriers to Keeping it in the Ground.
