JOB VACANCY AT EIT FOOD JOB TITLE: Junior Communication Manager, CLC West (Leuven) European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Food is a young and fast growing organisation focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation in the food sector. EIT Food is a start-up but has characteristics of a multinational and is operating in a European and international environment. The members of the EIT Food community are worldclass players in the international food domain. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Junior Communication Manager supports the Director of Communication in the implementation of the communication activities of EIT Food. Support and further develop the website and online tools of EIT Food. In addition a portion of this role will be to support the CLC director in selected regional communication tasks. JOB AND CONTRACT TYPE: Full time and unlimited duration. LOCATION: She or he will be based at the EIT Food Co-Location Centre West (Leuven, Belgium.) Occasional travel (10-20% of time) within Europe can be expected. Please note that despite the job location in Leuven, command of Dutch or French language is not required and candidates from other EU member states are encouraged to apply as the position will have pan-european responsibilities. Candidates from other countries will be required to work from EIT Food s CLC office in Leuven, no relocation bonus foreseen. MANAGER/SUPERVISOR: For day-to-day operations you will report to the Director of the Co-Location Centre (CLC). Your functional reporting line (according to the matrix organisation of EIT Food) will be the Functional Director of Communication at EIT Food Headquarters. EXPECTED START DATE: 1
The expected starting date is in the first quarter of 2018, depending on the availability of the selected candidate. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: You will execute pan-european communication tasks related to EIT Food and at regional CLC level On pan-european level your focus will be on: Operational support role in the implementation of the communication activities of EIT Food. Support in measurement of communication actitivites. Develop and support the production and delivery of EIT Food s communication collateral. o Safeguard that all materials for dissemination and outreach follow the EIT Food brand guidelines to grow a strong brand identity. Web & Online activities: o Execute online (web) strategy and annual action plan o Oversee all the features of our website, intranet and online communication tools (incl partner and external newsletter) o Website maintenance (a.o. updating content, fixing broken links and images, and ensuring that the website's code is compatible with all browsers). o Propose changes to optimize the site(s), implement changes requested. o Support project teams and the functional pillars in their online questions, tie in to EIT Food web presence where possible (E.g. blog on website, MOOC/SPOC support) o Test & report on website(s) performance (e.g. # visitors, SEO performance, load time, ease of use, and functionality. ) Assess and solve problems as quickly as possible. o Make changes to website architecture, content, linking and other factors to improve SEO positions for target keywords. Perform ongoing keyword discovery, expansion and optimization o Keeping up to date with the latest industry developments. o Keep an eye on the inter/intranet budget & liaise with web agency, and other required 3rd parties Close co-operation with community manager to maximize activities in our online presence. Identify opportunities to promote EIT Food s activities. 2
Actively liaise with other EIT Food headquarter functions such as Innovation, Business Creation, Education, Finance, Operations, and Communication. Actively connect with Programme Managers from Innovation, Business Creation, Education and Communication to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the EIT Food Business Plan Work closely with the the other members of the communication team. Support on ad hoc basis in other areas of communication when required. On regional level: Tactical support in regional communication activities of CLC West, in co-operation with the CLC office manager. KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES: Qualifications Undergraduate or higher degree in communications, public relations, media studies, and/or related fields. Experience 1 year working experience or internships in the field of communication. Proficiency across MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint). Exposure to Photoshop and design programs will be a plus. Proven experience in web management and SEO optimalisation. Experience in working with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and SEO tools such as Google Webmaster Tools and Google Keyword Planner will be a plus Experience in/familiarity with the food sector and working in an international environment is a plus. Experience in Expression Engine is a must. Experience in newsletter tool Campaign monitor will be a plus. Knowledge of the Agri-Food sector or EIT will be a plus.
