COST Action CA 15122 Reducing Old-Age Social Exclusion (ROSEnet) 2 nd Training School Camerino, Italy - 18 th -21 st September 2017 Contents This Training School (TS) is organised within the framework provided by the COST action ROSEnet (www.rosenetcost.com), which aims to overcome fragmentation and critical gaps in conceptual innovation on old-age exclusion across the life course, in order to address the research-policy disconnect and tackle social exclusion amongst older people in Europe. The TS is organised by INRCA, Italy s National Institute of Health and Science on Ageing, in collaboration with the University of Camerino (Italy), where the TS venue will be located. It will be dedicated to present and analyse issues of social exclusion in older age that are emerging globally. After an introduction on the core concepts and theories in this field, lectures will focus on aspects such as: the association between social exclusion, ageing and migration phenomena; the role of intergenerational relationships in exclusion analysis, including the role played by welfare regimes and policies in this respect; the management of older people in case of disasters (e.g. earthquakes). Each lecture will be followed by appropriate time for discussion. Finally, participants will be given the opportunity to present their own research projects, receiving feed-back from the TS mentors. A detailed schedule of the program will be sent to the successful applicants, closer to the event. The provisional programme includes, among others, contribution from following mentors: Kieran Walsh, ROSEnet Chair and Acting Director of the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland; Tineke Fokkema, Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI), The Hague, The Netherlands; Junko Otani, University of Osaka, Graduate School of Human Sciences, Osaka, Japan; Pieter Vanhuysse, University of Southern Denmark, Danish Centre for Welfare Studies, Odense, Denmark; Charles Waldegrave, Family Centre Social Policy Research Unit, Wellington, New Zealand. Support and advice will be provided on site by the local coordinator of the Training School: Giovanni Lamura, INRCA, Centre for Socio-Economic Research on Ageing: (g.lamura@inrca.it), tel. +39-071-8004797.

Who can apply COST TSs are mainly aimed at PhD students and early career investigators (ECI) 1, although more senior academics, researchers and policy-makers may also apply. Priority will be given to ECIs. The TSs are also open to the Action members. See the COST Vademecum for full details: http://www.cost.eu/. Who is eligible for financial support 1. Trainees from COST member countries; 2. Trainees from approved NNC (near neighbour countries) institutions; 3. Trainees from approved European RTD Organisations. Financial support for Trainees Successful applicants may be eligible to apply for financial support through the COST Action. There are 12 grants available for Trainees. The size of these grants can vary depending on the country of origin, although no individual grant can exceed the normal reimbursement rates of COST (see below). Applicants who intend to request financial support are invited to indicate this on their application form. The Management Committee (MC) of the Action decides the financial contribution for Trainees attending a TS, based on the following rules: The reimbursement rate per day is EUR 160 maximum; Up to EUR 300 may be attributed for travel expenses; The average grant awarded will be approximately EU 900. A maximum grant of EUR 1 500 can be awarded; Grants for trainees can vary depending on the country of the Trainees (e.g. domestic, near or far countries). Please note that: Trainee Grants do not necessarily cover all expenses related to attending the TS: they are just a contribution to the overall travel, accommodation and meal expenses of the Grantee; The payment of grants will be processed only after the TS has taken place and once the Grantee has signed the attendance sheet on each day of the TS; Trainees will be required to make their own travel arrangements; Accommodation will be pre-reserved for Trainees in a local hotel for the duration of the TS; different arrangements (e.g. in terms of arrival and departure dates) will have to be notified directly by Trainees to the hotel; Trainees will have to pay their accommodation upon arrival; Prior to the TS, all Trainees must register on e-cost; Trainees who are self-funded are also welcome to apply to attend the TS. 1 For COST, this includes people who have received a PhD within the past 8 years. 3
