2011-2012 Green Fund Application Office of Sustainability Stanford University 2011-2012
Green Fund Application for Grant Cycle 2011-2012 (4 th year) An initiative of Office of Sustainability and Sustainable Stanford The Stanford Student Grant Green Fund provides one time grant funds for student lead projects directed toward improving sustainability in operation of the Stanford campus. The fund and its grant making committee empower students and enable student-driven projects in sustainability by providing a source of funding, guidance, hands-on experience and networking. The total fund size for academic year 2011-2012 is up to $30,000, and we are generally expecting proposals for projects with a grant size between $3K and $10K. Staff, students, administrators and faculty throughout the University have a strong commitment to sustainability research and implementation. Sustainable Stanford a campus-wide initiative to steer, connect, support and streamline all sustainability efforts fulfills that commitment. The program aims to be a leader in sustainability by modeling sustainability practices on campus and pursuing research that helps communities around the world. Funding student projects is not only consistent with the university mission of education and research, it also fulfills Sustainable Stanford s vision to make the university more sustainable through student led programs and outreach. The Green Fund committee invites students to submit project proposals for student driven and managed projects in sustainability. In addition to the Green Fund by-laws (attached) please consider the following criteria for your project as they will be used to grant awards. A proposed project is advised, to be: Consistent with the university mission of education and research and Sustainable Stanford s vision to improve environmental sustainability in campus operations. Able to capture measureable outcomes within the proposed timeframe. Projects should be proposed with clearly defined timeline and a budget with some explanation on all expenses. Effective in promoting awareness on sustainability initiatives (academic and operational) on campus. If applicable, able to demonstrate a return on investment and how the project will have an economic payback. This is so we can plan on how savings from the projects can return to the fund for future projects. Applications must be submitted to stanfordgreenfund@gmail.com no later than Noon on October 31 st, Monday, 2011. This will enable us to award the winners before Thanksgiving, so work can take place in winter and spring quarters. Visit http://sustainable.stanford.edu/green_fund for more information. 2 P age
