T R I C I A B A R B E R, P R I N C I P A L The St. Francis PTO is excited to host the April 28th Science Night and Silent Auction! Silent Auction items will be updated throughout the week on the St. Francis homepage website link. Thank you to all of our families who plan to volunteer or have donated an item for the auction. The Spring Middle School Dance will be held on Friday, May 8th from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Refreshment schedule: Grade 8-soft drinks/juice Grade 7-chips Grade 6-sweet treats If you would enjoy chaperoning, please contact the school office. The Crowning of the Blessed Mother will take place during the Friday, May 15th Mass. This year's May Court includes grade 8 students: Caroline Harms, Elizabeth Devlin, Tate McLean, and Andrew Diaz. The grade 8 and grade 2 classes will serve as honorary attendants. "Look to the Lord and his strength, seek his face always." Quantities are limited. Spring Track: All registration forms must be in by Tuesday, April 21st. After which, the team will be closed. The 2015-16 Book Fee, ($150 per student), for grades Kindergarten thru 8, will be charged to your FACTS Tuition Agreement and deducted on the same day as your May 2015 tuition. The 2015-16 Supply Fee, ($100 per student), for preschool students, will be charged to your FACTS Tuition Agreement and will be deducted on the same day as your May 2015 tuition. PAGE 3 St. Francis of Assisi PTO News St. Francis Silent Auction on Tuesday, April 28th The PTO will hold its annual Silent Auction on Tuesday, April 28 th. We are truly grateful to all those who donated items for the Silent Auction. We cannot have a successful event without the generosity of our families and business donors. The auction items will be on display that day. Bidding will begin at 2:30 p.m. so please feel free to come into the school and take an early peek before dismissal. Bidding will continue until 7:30 p.m. that evening. April 28 th is the same night as the Children s Science Center s Family Science Night at St. Francis. We hope that as families come to enjoy this free Family event that they will also come by and bid on the Silent Auction items. If you have any questions regarding the Silent Auction please email the PTO at PTO.sfas@gmail.com. April 28 th will be a fun night for the whole family! Family Science Night volunteers needed to help with concessions starting at 4:00pm. Please contact Mrs. Gardner at gardners.psg@gmail.com if you are able to assist, multiple shifts are available. Mobile Labs Family Science Night at St. Francis on Tuesday, April 28th We are excited to have the Children s Science Center Museum Without Walls bring us their Mobile Labs Family Science Night program from 6:00 8:00 p.m. This two hour program combines science learning and family bonding. There will be twelve hands-on stations to help keep our students engaged and excited about STEM subjects. Activities include: exploring magnetic properties, Aviation: Engineering and Flight, BugBots, and forensic science. Thank you to those who volunteered for Family Science Night prior to April 17th. The museum has received your names and will contact you directly with an assignment. Admission to Family Science Night is free but concessions will be sold in the Dining Facility from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Concessions will be billed to your FACTS tuition agreement. Extended family members may pay by cash or check. All proceeds will support the St. Francis Technology initiative. We hope that you will join us! Yankee Candle orders still accepted online Online ordering is still available. Just remember to use the School Group Number of 990033226 when ordering online. 40% of your profit will go towards your family fundraising fee. St. Francis of Assisi PTO News PAGE 4 Spirit Night Cavalier Family Skating in Stafford It s a St. Francis Family Skate night at Cavalier Family Skating Center on May 2nd. We invite all of our SFA families to join us on Saturday from 5:30 7:30 p.m. Admission is $4 and Skate rental is $1. St. Francis School will earn $1 for every skater. Cavalier Family Skating Center is located in Stafford at 1924 Jefferson Davis Highway. St. Francis will have exclusive use of the facility for this event. Our second Spirit Night at Sweet Frog will be on Tuesday, May 26th Our students had a great time at the Sweet Frog Spirit Night in January. We will host a second Spirit Night in May once we return from the Memorial Day weekend. Families can go to either the Stafford location or the Dumfries location between 4:00 8:00 p.m. There will be a character appearance and a class contest. Stafford location: 315 Garrisonville Rd. Suite 101 Dumfries location: 17177 Wayside Drive Save the Date for Field Day on Friday, May 29th Field day will be in May this year. It is a day filled with activities for our students and their younger siblings. Volunteers will be needed to help make this a fun day for all so we hope that you can take some time to be with us. Additional details will follow as the date draws near. Final Box Tops Class competition There is one more Box Tops competition before the end of the school year. Clip those Box Tops and hand them in by Monday, June 1 st. Your class may be the final winner this year. You can ask family members and friends to donate their Box Tops to your class. Simply place them in an envelope with your student s name and grade then submit it to the classroom. Calling for Used uniforms It s time for some Spring cleaning! The PTO will gladly accept gently used uniforms that your child has already outgrown. Take some time to look through your closets and drawers for school uniforms and PE uniforms. Please place the laundered items in a bag or box that is marked Used uniforms and bring them to the school office for the PTO s used uniform closet. We appreciate your support.
