To update your knowledge related to fetal monitoring equipment and uterine activity patterns. 4. To prepare you to sit the NCC subspecialty examination for electronic fetal monitoring. 5. For those who already have the NCC credential, you may utilize the continuing education credits from this course to demonstrate contact hours of continuing education to renew your certificate of added qualification. Define hyperstimulation and its potential effects on the fetus. Express how maternal diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and drug addiction impact the fetus and the fetal heart rate. Differentiate variability from a sinusoidal pattern and explain the physiology of each. Identify the critical attributes of 5 types of decelerations (early, late, variable, prolonged, and spontaneous). Recognize 4 different fetal arrhythmia patterns and their physiologic impact on the fetus. Define normal and abnormal parameters for antepartal test results. Interpret umbilical cord acid-base test results. Interpret 10 fetal monitor tracings and recognize the cause of each.
