WEEKEND GOLD MINERS PROSPECTING CLUB GENERAL MEETING MINUTES January 3, 2015 President Roger Moore called the January 3, 2015 general meeting to order. Roger welcomed new members and guests: John Smith guest of #2409 Tom Smith. Birthdays for January 2015 are #2610 Ray Sparks on the 9th and Judy Hall Johnson on the 13th. Anniversaries for January 2015 are Denise and Bill Johnson, 12 years on the 3rd. HAPPY! HAPPY! There was a moment of silence for the families of Clinton Turner (brother of K.K. Turner, owner of the Turner property), who passed away on December 27, 2014. Lester Allison Jr. owner of the Allison property, who passed away on December 29, 2014, and for member #0455 Jerry Mayfield, who passed away on January 1, 2015. Please remember these families in your thoughts and prayers. Bill Johnson made a motion to accept the December 6, 2014 general meeting minutes. William Quick seconded. Motion carried and passed. Bookkeeper Judy Hall Johnson Gave the December 2014 Treasurer report as follows: Checking Beg. Box 910 Dahlonega, GA 30533 PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR MEMBER # ON YOUR CHECK New Properties Finders Fee It is the policy of the WEGM to reward its members with a finders fee for locating new properties for the club to lease. The member will be paid $240 or receive credit for $240 in membership dues upon the club approving the lease for club use. The member must act as an agent between the landowner and the WEGM. To receive the finders fee, you must register in writing with the club secretary your intent to begin discussing a proposed lease with the landowner. You cannot receive the finders fee unless registration is complete and the lease is approved by the WEGM. STANDING RULES 1. No use of alcohol on Association outings. 2. Smoking will not be permitted at Association meetings or activities unless held in the open air. 3. Members are expected to ahere to the Association s Code of Ethics while prospecting or mining 4. Members are expected to conduct themselves at all times in accordance with the laws of the land and reasonable moral behavior 5. Violation of Standing Rules will result in disciplinary action as determined by the Executive Board of Directors 6. The President, Vice-President or their appointed spokesperson(s) are the only people authorized to speak on behalf of the WEGM 7. Regular monthly meetings will be held on the first Saturday of each month at a scheduled time as stated in the club newsletter and website 8. Fun must be had by all Membership Director had $113.17 in expenses. Benny stated that all the new sign-in boxes have been installed at the gates on the properties. Hunt Master Robert Johnson gave the Hunt Master report as follows: There wasn t a hunt today due to the bad weather. There will be a Valentine Hunt on February 7th, 2015 weather permitting, at the Auraria Community Center starting at 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. There will be a $75.00 gold nugget given away plus more token prizes. He also gave an inventory of the $650.00 worth of coins that he has stockpiled for the hunts. He thanked all the members for supporting the raffles. Roger told the membership to be sure and put the locks on the gates up-side down when locking the gates and DO NOT put WD-40 or oil in the locks. This only gums the lock up and it will have to be replaced. Denise Johnson wife of #2583 Bill Johnson has taken over the WEGM Auxiliary. They served chili with all the fixins, dessert and drinks today. Next month they will be having chicken pot pie. Please support Denise and the WEGM Auxiliary. OLD BUSINESS: Roger Moore stated that the Turner lease has been renewed in the amount of $13,000.00 for one year. Mr. Turner had agreed to let the club put in another road to make room for more campsites. Board members Barbara Lawson and Bill Johnson made the Christmas donation of $3,000.00 to the Community Helping Place. Their picture was in the Dahlonega Nugget. The club has given the CHP a total of $6,000.00 this year. Board member Ray Sparks and William Quick made the Christmas donation of $1,000.00 to Camp Merrill to help out two families of veterans. NEW BUSINESS: Locks on the gates of the property leases will be changed on April 1, 2015. New keys will be mailed out on March 14, 2015.You must have your dues and maintenance fees paid up to date by March 1, 2015. October 17th & 18th 2015 All these dates are subject to change and all will be held on the Turner property. Details will be announced closer to the date of common. Raffles were held: The door prize of a Prospector Silver Round went to #1483 Robert Johnson. ON THE FUNNY SIDE OF LIFE: An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and told her preacher she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart. "Wal-Mart?" the preacher exclaimed. "Why Wal-Mart?" SEALED BIDS The Board of Directors is at this time accepting sealed bids on all of the abandoned personal property on the Turner & Allison leases. There are four (4) sites on the Turner and two (2) sites on the Allison property. All the property that is on the campsite must be removed from the leased property within 30 days after the Board of Directors approval of all bids received and cannot be relocated on any WEGM leased property. There will be a lot number assigned and all bids must have lot number on them. No bids will be accepted by hand delivery. All bids must be turned in by mail and MUST be addressed to: WEGM Secretary P.O. Box 910 Dahlonega, Ga. 30533 It has to be addressed to the WEGM Secretary or it will be voided. All bids must be received by (3/1/15). All bids will be held by the secretary and will not be opened until the March 7, 2015 Board meeting. These bids are for members only. Campsites on Turner property are marked as Lot #1, #2, #3, #4 and the campsites on the Allison Honey Farm are marked as Lot #5 and #6. For more information or if you wish to inspect the property you may contact the Membership Director at 770-531-9346 to make arrangements. RULE OF THE MONTH: CAMP AND MINING AREAS SITE SETBACK REQUIREMENTS: Abandoned Campsites It is the members responsibility to remove all trash, broken or torn equipment from the campsite upon leaving the campsite. If a campsite is not used for an extended period of time, six (6) months, then the Board of Directors shall have the authority to remove and dispose of all such equipment left on the property. A.
