6:15 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Executive Residence GOVERNORS AND SPOUSES DINNER Governors and their spouses will enjoy a private dinner at the Tennessee Residence. The executive residence, a classic example of stately Georgian architecture, was originally known as Far Hills because of the beautiful views from the home s 10-acre site. To date, nine governors and their families have lived and worked in the Tennessee Residence, including Gordon Browning, Frank Clement, Buford Ellington, Winfield Dunn, Ray Blanton, Lamar Alexander, Ned Ray McWherter, Don Sundquist and Bill Haslam. 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Ryman Auditorium RECEPTION FOR ALL ATTENDEES All meeting attendees will gather at the most famous home of the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, for an evening of food, history and entertainment. Throughout history, the Ryman has become inseparably linked to the origins and rise of the modern-day genre of country music. The Grand Ole Opry broadcasted from here from 1943 until 1974, was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and was further designated a National Historic Landmark in 2001. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore the Ryman s rich entertainment history and how it became known as the Carnegie Hall of the South. See what Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner wore during the years country and bluegrass music were shaped, see video and rare photos of Johnny Cash and take your picture on the stage graced by legends from Aretha Franklin to ZZ Top. Then, walk backstage and see the dressing rooms of the stars, Minnie Pearl and Hank Williams included. Finally, stand in the wings where performers such as James Brown and Elvis Presley stood to await their time on that famous stage.
