Master Track Sessions Project WET, Kari Abbott and Robbie Morrison - This water education master track will include hands-on experience with the activities of Project WET (Water Education for Teachers)! Project WET is an exciting water education program that promotes awareness, appreciation, knowledge and stewardship of water resources. All Project WET activities are handson, investigative, and easy-to-use. Virginia Tech Science Festival - Science is bigger than you think. Science is a way of knowing about everything -- people, trends, living things, rocks, economics, how things move, what people buy, probabilities, stars, animals, history, memory, physics, and so much more. You might even say that science is universal (#VTSciFest). More than 20 exhibitors will be on site with demonstrations that include 3D printing, polymer science, electrical music instruments, reptiles, meteorology, water quality, robotics, and much more! Drones and Ag Engineer, Dan Swafford and Andy Seibel - Did you ever wonder what activities you can do with drones in your 4-H program? Find out the answer to this and other questions dealing with this new educational tool. This master track will look at FAA rules dealing with the use of drones in an educational program. Participants will get to take a turn at flying the most popular hobby drone, the DJI Phantom III. Also included in this workshop will be additional agricultural mechanics activities such as small gas engines, lawn tractor safety and welding. Selected Workshop Sessions Environmental Education, Mary Driver-Dows and Anna Kim - An introduction to the environmental programs of Salamanders Savers 4-H Club. Learn how to turn your group s questions into a robust program that impacts the local environment. Energizing your 4-H club meetings and programs, Tara Brent In this session, participants will hear about and practice ways to engage the youth in their 4-H programs. This will be a hands-on, active workshop, and attendees will walk away with ideas they can use right away in their programs. Military 4-H Gardening Programs, Amanda Murray This session will focus on how military clubs in the Hampton Roads area are utilizing various 4-H curriculum to grow community gardens. It will provide a brief overview of military 4-H clubs, and focus on the use of several Junior Master Gardener resources. Participants will be introduced to a variety of hands on activities hat can be used with 4 H clubs and members of all ages. Teamwork, Leadership, and Communication Activities, Daniel Hale - This will be a workshop with examples of team building activities compiled from a variety of sources. Activities may be old favorites, twists on familiar exercises, and introducing some new ones. Additional topics will include: Technology and 4-H programming, 4-H Fundraising and Financial Guidelines, Conflict Resolution, and much more!

Virginia Association of Adult 4-H Volunteer Leaders Conference Scholarship 2017 Application Thanks to the Monsanto organization, there are a limited number of scholarships available for Agents and Volunteers, to attend State Spring and Fall Conferences. If you are interested in one of the scholarships, please select the category below and then complete the remainder of this form. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED AND PAID IN FULL FOR THE ENTIRE CONFERENCE TO QUALIFY! (Agents and veterans are only eligible for ONE scholarship per calendar year) Agent Scholarship any agent who gets 2 or more ADULT volunteers to register and attend the conference will be eligible for a partial or full scholarship to attend the conference also. In the space below, list the names of conference attendees from your county. (Agents may NOT use Hokie Mart, office funds, or other 4-H accounts. Must pay ahead with personal check, and if awarded, will receive refund after the Conference.) First Time Attendee - Adult Volunteer if this is your first conference, you may be eligible for a partial to full scholarship.
