A SPECIAL SYLLABUS AT ISEL 2014 UNIVERSITE DU HAVRE, FRANCE. ISEL (Institut Supérieur d'etudes Logistiques) offers a special syllabus in English taught by experienced teachers and designed for foreign students (3 years of further studies) wishing to spend a spring semester (February to June) in our engineering school in Le Havre, Normandy. They are offered the following topics, taught in full English. 1 30 CREDITS minimum For student hoping to achieve 30 ECTS (or more) in order to validate his/her semester (according to the European scheme. IMPORTANT: in order to work in good conditions, the number of students is limited up to 15 students. The syllabus opens if a minimum of 5 students apply to it. Beginning: February 3 rd (orientation week) End: June 27 th. Accommodation and practical info: see last page. Logistics and SC oriented The added value of this syllabus is the focus on particular Logistics and Supply Chain theme. Some classes will be given by professionals with whom ISEL has had special links for years, and by foreign teachers from our partners around the world. Application rules and forms (available on ISEL website http://www.isel-logistique.fr ) A tuition waver will be granted to the students from universities or schools we have a bilateral agreement with (EXCHANGE STUDENTS). In such a case, the exchange students must be officially nominated by their parent university. This fellow student from ISEL will be his/her guide especially in the very first weeks of the stay (opening a bank account, for instance) but also before. Once officially enrolled (see application deadline) in the international program "LSC @ ISEL 2014", international students will be in touch with their «tuteurs» so they can start knowing each other. The ISEL survival kit (optional but strongly advised!) A message from the ISEL Bureau of Students (BDE) : Dear fellow students, in addition to the «tuteur» system, at our student union (Bureau of Students, BDE), our goal is to make sure you'll feel good among us. Because student life is important! Therefore, the BDE has decided that its membership is free to all the international students of the program, including a cheaper price for all the activities we organize (parties, laser game, ) and the access to the «K fet» (ISEL s cafeteria). The "survival-kit" option Each year, as these items are not generally included in your accommodation, we offer to the foreign students a helpful hand with a pack that contains: - kitchen tools - cooking tools - etc. Because practical stuff means a lot! Good to know: this is a rental kit that costs* 15 for the whole length of your stay, plus a 50 deposit. Easy: you get this kit at your arrival and return it at your departure. Transport Planning (18 hrs of classes + personal work = 2 ECTS) Olivier JOLY Course Unit Code : LSC 16 This seminar examines EU Transport Planning programs including Transport Infrastructure Investments &Transport Policies for Sustainable Development. It also focuses on Intermodality / Interoperability Patterns and Hub Interconnection Concepts. 4 Business Policies (12 hrs of classes + personal work = 1,5 ECTS) Frank GUERIN Course Unit Code : LSC 17 This seminar, case studies included, is mainly dealing with : competition policy in Europe strategic diagnostic method and process corporate strategy status of logistics in creating competitive advantage. Retail management & Logistics (24 hrs of classes + personal work = 3 ECTS) Marie-Laure BARON Course Unit Code : LSC 18 An introduction to retail management and its implications on logistics. Includes an overview of retail marketing and organization over Europe, store and storing facilities localization, European and worldwide scale logistics organizations. Case studies support the lecture. Human Resources Management (12 hrs of classes + personal work = 1,5 ECTS) Sean HUGHES Course Unit Code : LSC 19 An introduction to some of the key people skills required in successful organisations. Participative discussions will cover Recruitment Interviews, Communication Skills, Stress Management and other skills needed by managers and individuals. 4
Cross Cultural Management (9 hrs of classes + personal work = 2 ECTS) María Ángeles SÁNCHEZ CARRASCAL and Nicolas BARUBE Course Unit Code : LSC 20 An In a globalized world, the ability to negotiate with international partners is crucial, not only to widen the personal cultural horizon but mainly to accomplish a successful negotiation. Trading with foreigners not only relies on the prospective outcomes for both counterparts, but can also depend on the effects of powerful Cross Cultural Management. This course will highlight the major stakes of this ability. 5 French Civilisation and Foreign language (48 hrs of classes + personal work = 7 ECTS) Eric MARTEL Course Unit Code : LSC 21 This course for foreign students offers a teaching method adapted to the needs of the non speaking French students. French language is immediately put into practice to allow each student to progress quickly. The study, in a small group to stimulate conversation, of the French language is approached through the exploration of real-life documents and topics of interest. Product Life Management (21 hrs of classes + personal work = 2,5 ECTS) Abdelaziz AMIRAT Course Unit Code : LSC 22 This course focuses on the understanding of the importance of product lifecycle management (PLM) tools in logistics throughout case studies teaching approach involving computer aided design software.
