The organization long hitory of public ervice wa recognized in December 2014 with preentation of the Congreional Gold Medal for it volunteer ervice helping protect Allied hipping and the U.S. homefront during World War II. Congre deignated CAP a the official Air Force Auxiliary in May 1948 and identified it three core miion emergency ervice, cadet program and aeropace education. CAP wa recognized in 2015 a part of the U.S. Air Force Total Force, which alo conit of regular Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reerve, along with Air Force retired military and civilian employee. The wing provide activitie that reach both urban and rural area and impact children a well a adult. The wing many community ervice effort are conducted in partnerhip with the State Veteran Home and VA Southern Nevada Healthcare Sytem, the Boulder City and Fernley Veteran' cemeterie, Operation Homefront, Blue Star Widow, Operation Santa Clau, Air Force ROTC orientation flight, Nevada Department of Emergency Management Search and Recue Board, Reno Air Race, Aviation Nation, Humboldt County Search and Recue collaboration, Angel Flight Wet and more. A Nevada Wing continue reaching out to community organization, the wing i building on it plan to exceed expectation in meeting the miion of Civil Air Patrol and enhancing member contribution to Nevada and the nation. The wing training program extend throughout the tate, developing a cadre of member ready to repond when needed while developing future leader. The cadet training program i econd to none and include baic and advanced leaderhip chool, an annual encampment, orientation flight, glider training and more. Lat year, the wing had five cadet accepted into ervice academie, with ome accepted to more than one. CAP wa involved in 863 SAR miion in 2015 and wa credited with aving 69 live. 30,761 qualified peronnel trained to federal tandard upported 196 diater relief and other federal, tate and local agency upport miion in 2015. Aircrew conducting counterdrug and drug interdiction operation flew 9,183 hour helping law enforcement agencie eize $1.2 billion in illegal drug and currency, leading to 3 arret. CAP aircrew flew 98,529 hour in 2015, conducting earch and recue, diater relief, air defene, counterdrug and numerou other critical miion. CAP aircrew flew 1,168 hour on 35 Surrogate Unmanned Aerial Sytem miion to train U.S. and coalition force from around the world in 2015. CAP ervice, performed in the air and on the ground by CAP volunteer, cot only $120 to $165 per flying hour, aving million of dollar over other aviation option. CAP pilot flying a mentor to America future aviation leader flew 10,882 hour to conduct 27,862 cadet orientation ride in both powered aircraft and glider in 2015. CAP aircrew flew 1,164 hour on 190 air defene exercie miion helping prepare fighter unit acro the country for homeland ecurity miion. In all, CAP member provided almot $165 million in volunteer ervice to the 1,451 communitie it upport nationwide. The Air Force Recue Coordination Center credited CAP national cell phone forenic and radar analyi team with 53 live aved in 2015. 6,945 aircrew peronnel and 4,249 ground team member are available for CAP miion.

Career Exploration Through more than 30 National Cadet Special Activitie cadet annually explore career in a wide variety of field. Cadet can chooe to invetigate flying, aircraft maintenance and manufacturing, cyberpace operation, engineering, robotic and emergency ervice, among other. Flying High The opportunity to fly i a major attraction CAP offer youth. During 2015, CAP pilot flew cadet on 27,862 orientation flight. Leaderhip Our program offer cadet in-depth training in leaderhip and enable them to apply claroom principle to real-world need. Cadet are encouraged to plan event, make deciion and teach and mentor junior-ranking cadet under enior uperviion. Community Service CAP cadet erve their communitie in a myriad of way, including collecting and ditributing food and clothing to the needy, carrying out cleanup campaign and meeting logitical need for aviationrelated event like air how.

Many of the nation atronaut, pilot, engineer and cientit firt explored their career in CAP. CAP Aeropace Education and STEM program, coniting of over 30 no-cot aeropace education product and program, generate interet in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic career in over 25,000 cadet and about 150,000 K-12 tudent nationwide. STEM Kit Nearly 150,000 K-12 youth acro the country were expoed to career exploration program aociated with atronomy, flight imulation, model and remote-controlled aircraft, robotic and rocketry, thank to free STEM kit provided by CAP. Teacher Member CAP AE program extend to adult a well a youth. CAP offer a pecial memberhip for teacher promoting AE and STEM in their claroom. Thi include Teacher Orientation Program flight that provide educator with the opportunity to experience firthand the excitement of flying and to expand their aeronautical knowledge, which alo benefit 30,000 tudent annually.
