Defending Our Religious Liberty #305 December 31, 2017 Religious freedom is a precious right. It is also a necessary right - necessary for all people and all societies if they are to flourish. Scholars have shown that when religious freedom for all is protected in law and valued in culture, it brings with it political stability, equality for women, economic growth, and social harmony The 2017 St. Thomas Church Giving Tree Program concluded the first week in December. More than 70 children received clothing and gift cards through your generous donations. Working with the Thomaston Christmas Committee and other donors, the Program was also able to provide 35 warm coats, mittens and hats, as well as pajamas, to families with children in need from our community. Your generosity is inspiring! Thank you from the children and their parents. Please remember those men and women who are serving God, keep special watch over the men and women serving in the Navy, National Guard, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, & Coast Guard. In the words of Pope Francis: Closeness to the poor, the refugee, the immigrant, the sick, the exploited, the elderly living alone, prisoners, and all God s other poor, will teach us a different way of resting, one which is more Christian and generous. For more information on National Migration Week and immigration please visit the following websites: Sharejourney.org, and/or ArchdioceseofHartford.org. We want to know and serve you. When leaving Mass today, please take a moment and introduce yourself to Father Crowley and Father Tomasz.
