N C V P R I P G 2 0 1 7 National Conference on Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Graphics 16-19 December 2017, IIT Mandi Welcome to IIT Mandi for NCVPRIPG 2017! The purpose of this document is to provide useful information for your stay in IIT Mandi. About IIT Mandi Campus IIT Mandi main campus is located in Kamand village about 15 kilometers from main town Mandi. However a transit campus is also present in Mandi town. This is situated just above the main bus stand in the erstwhile Mandav hotel, hence known as Mandav block. The transit campus hosts a few labs and a guest house. The IIT Mandi shuttle bus service operated between the Mandav block and Kamand campus regularly. The main campus is divided into the north and south campus in Kamand separated by about 5 kilometers. The IIT Mandi shuttle service operates regularly between the two campuses. Most of the labs and offices along with hostels and faculty quarters are located in the south campus. The north campus hosts several hostels, the main institute guest house and some faculty quarters along with other offices. Please consult the maps in the maps section and the Important Locations section for the location of various buildings. Important Locations North Campus South Campus 1. Institute Guest House. 1. A1 Building, the venue of the conference. 2. D1 and D2 mess. 3. B6 and B7 Hostel, the students will stay here. 4. Manirang / Studio Aprtments. 5. Garpa Guest House, just outside the campus. Reaching IIT Mandi From Bus stand to Mandav Block: The Mandav block is located just above the Mandi bus stand. This is a 10-minute walk from the bus stand, see the map attached. The path is fairly steep, so if you have luggage, it may be easier to hire an auto-rickshaw from the bus stand. The fare is about Rs.20/-. If one

happens to arrive early in the morning, one can use waiting hall and restrooms available at IIT Mandav block till the institute shuttle-bus service starts or hire a taxi to Kamand campus. From Mandav Block to Kamand Campus The institute has dedicated shuttle-bus service from Mandav block, Mandi to main campus in Kamand. The service starts from 7 O clock in the morning to 9:30 in the evening. Please take a look at the bus schedule that is given at the end of this document. In addition to the institute shuttle service, one can also avail the public transport service from the bus stand. The schedule of various public buses is also given in the abovementioned schedule. One can also hire a taxi from the bus stand to the Kamand campus. Taxis are stationed outside Mandi main bus stand 24 x 7. The cost of a one-way trip to the IIT campus is about Rs. 600/- Lodging, Dining and Other Information On reaching the Kamand campus, the participants can directly walk to the hostels allotted to them. Please see the attached map for the location of the various hostels. 1. Lodging The students have been provided accommodation in the B6/B7 hostel whereas the faculty members and guests from the industry will stay in the institute guest house in North campus. The accommodation information has been provided to the corresponding caretakers and security guards. After reporting, the guards will help you locate the rooms and the participants will be provided with the keys to their respective rooms. 2. Meals Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in the D1 mess (Cedar mess), while drinks/snacks between sessions will be served in A1 building. If someone arrives on December 15, they can avail the mess facility from D2 mess (Maple mess) free of cost. The D1 mess is the circular building located across the playground from A1 building. Please take a look at the attached map for the location of the messes. 3. Internet Access Internet Wireless connectivity is available in most buildings of the campus. IIT Mandi has an institute-wide proxy server. There is a specific LDAP id and password for each participant which will be provided along with the kit at the time of registration. 1. Proxy server: 10.8.0.1(Academic area) 10.7.0.1(Hostel area) port 8080 2. You need to go to link below and login before you could access internet: http://gateway.iitmandi.ac.in/facstaff/login.php Login with your LDAP id and password. If you are connected to the network, your device will get a 10.X.X.X IP address. 3. Some application might be blocked and might not work on your smartphones.

General Information 1. The IIT campus has the following facilities in south campus: Riverbank canteen near Director s office (Timings 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM). Paras canteen in D1 mess (Timings 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM). Bake-Hut bakery below D2 mess (Timings 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM). AFC canteen (timings 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM) A small grocery store, in the D1 mess building (store timings 1 PM to 7PM. Sundays are closed.) A stationary shop in D1, the mess complex Medical unit near the D1 mess (+91-9816663003.) The Treat restaurant, just outside the campus (about 500 m walk.) Besides that, there are a few small dhabas and shops outside the campus in Kamand village (about 1 km walk). The items available in these shops are limited, and for buying anything major (like clothes or footwear etc.) you need to go to Mandi town. 2. In the north campus there is a Megastar shopping store, a medical unit, a functioning mess, and some sports facilities. 3. There are two banks SBI and PNB, available in south campus along with two ATMs of the respective banks. 4. The south campus has a functioning gymnasium and other sports facilities available which include cricketing ground and practice nets, football ground, basketball, volley ball and tennis courts. 5. Winter in Mandi is a bit colder than most other parts of north India and the night temperature is around 3 to 4. You are advised to carry warm clothes with you. Blankets will be provided to you in the hostels / guest houses. 6. Carry your name tags while you are on campus. You might be asked to produce the same in messes or while availing the institute shuttle bus service. Important Note: 1. The river Uhl flows next to the campus and provides a nice and beautiful view. However, participants are strongly discouraged from going to the river, as the currents can be swift and the rocks slippery. 2. You can go for walks around the campus, however it is discouraged to move outside the main campus area in the dark.
