We are pleased to offer an interdisciplinary dementia training program that creates a congruent culture of care one that prioritizes the use of remaining abilities and individuality and enables dementia care staff to deliver a higher standard of dementia care, Dementia Capable Care. Dementia Capable Care training is offered as a one-day Foundation course, a two-day Care Partner Applications course, and a three-day Instructor Program. Dementia Capable Care is best implemented through our train-the-trainer Instructor Program. With successful completion, Instructors are authorized to teach the seven-hour Foundation course within their organization and offered continual support for meeting ongoing training requirements and maintaining authorization. With more than 5.3 million people in the US living with Alzheimer s disease and a new diagnosis made every 70 seconds, it is crucial that we plan for the challenges ahead. What Others Are Saying Dementia Care Specialists have taught me more about dementia care and approaches than any other training I have received. The passion of Kim and her team is contagious. This training helped me to expect positive outcomes in our residents with dementia and to truly provide person-centered care. Jennifer Gettman, MA, NHA Administrator and CEO Harvester Residential Care St. Charles, MO Even as an experienced RN, providing nursing care to residents with dementia was often stressful, largely due to unpredictable responses and behaviors. Dementia Capable Care training and assessment tools offered me the skills to provide focused, individualized nursing approaches for which I could predict the resident response, making my role as a nurse a lot less stressful. Barbie Moore, RN Harrisburg, IL 3
