ATR(G) is the Army s newest regiment and the first hybrid, all arms training establishment staffed by both Regular and Reserve instructors. This Regiment and the course that you are to undertake is the fruition of work being undertaken that brings the Regular Army and the Army Reserve into One Army. Successful completion of this course will see you joining a busy Army currently involved in operations in East and West Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. The Army Reserve is fully involved in this activity and you could well find yourself deploying after your training is complete. On arrival at Grantham you will be assigned to a Section of up to 11 other Army Reserve Recruits. On this course your instructors will predominantly be Regular JNCOs. They will have a wealth of experience, both on operations and in the training environment. They are here to support you through the course and impart their considerable knowledge and military skills. The course will demand much of you in the field and in barracks. As on your Phase 1(A) the key to passing this course is preparation, a determination to succeed and a sense of humour. You and your unit will have received generic joining instructions to prepare you for your Phase 1(B) course. This letter, with its annex, will fill in the gaps pertinent to your time at Grantham. I wish you the best of luck with the course. GCGR STONE Lieutenant Colonel Commanding Officer Annex A.
