Panel discussions concluding each session offer attendees an opportunity to engage with physicians, NPs and PAs from around the country. CASE-BASED APPROACH TO GASTROENTEROLOGY Faculty will use practical, case-based examples to demonstrate topics. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify the common and less common causes of pancreatitis, review its classification and discuss management. Review the diagnosis and management of hepatobiliary conditions, biliary strictures, leaks and stones, and assess when pancreatic function testing and interventional endoscopic techniques are necessary. Summarize the disease burden and current future treatment options for viral hepatitis, workup of abnormal liver function tests and management of cirrhosis and hepatic mass lesions. Discuss evaluation and treatments for small bowel and colon disorders including IBD, IBS, celiac disease, diarrheal diseases and bacterial growth. Review the presentation and management of upper gastrointestinal (esophagus, gastric and duodenum) disease states, including GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis, achalasia, H. pylorigastritis, gastroparesis and ulcer disease. Evaluate what to order and how to interpret upper GI physiology laboratory studies. Discuss issues involving obesity and nutrition for the gastroenterologist. Review the presentation and management of various GI malignancies of the upper and lower GI tract, liver and neuroendocrine systems.
