FISCAL CONSTRAINTS Continued source of uncertainty - creating budgetary challenges across the Department of Defense. Challenges moving forward: Ø Sequestration ( Fiscal Cliff ) 2 nd year Creates "cash flow" concerns for DoD Ø Continuing Resolution ( debt ceiling ) Budgetary constraints imposed on Federal Government spending. Current: funds government operations to 15 Jan 14 and suspends debt limit ( debt ceiling ) to 7 Feb 14 4 NAVFAC Southwest
IMPACTS Ø Now Federal Government Civilian Hiring Freeze in place Government travel and conferences curtailed Reduction of Contractor Support Services Special Projects, ATA deferred FSRM cuts to continue (emergency, life, mission critical), Facility Support (everything to COL4) Release of temporary and term employees Ø Sequestration Possible additional furloughs Potential additional shore account cuts 5 NAVFAC Southwest
