Clinical Services Lead utonomous Nurse Practitioners and Urgent Care Practitioners (NPs / UCPs) Date: October 2015 JOB PURPOS The purpose of the role is to support the Clinical Services Lead with clinical innovation within the out of hours and out of hospital services and to provide clinical support to practitioners working in these services. To ensure the effective and efficient provision of high quality out-of-hospital services and despatch management, being responsible for assisting in the day to day service delivery of contracts. To be an effective member of the Clinical Services Team, to include providing flexible cover for other Clinical Management and clinicians, particularly during busy periods, annual leave and sick leave. KY RSPONSBLTS ND CCOUNTBLTS This list is far from comprehensive and the job holder would be expected to undertake any other functions as may reasonably be required. The role can be divided into the following key areas: 1. You will support the delivery of day to day clinical services of the Sussex and Surrey localities to ensure that the services provided are of high quality; are safe and effective, and meet all key performance indicators 2. ssist the Clinical Services Lead in implementing systems and processes that will ensure excellent standards of care. 3. Demonstrate an holistic approach to delivering unscheduled patient care in the Out of Hours service in a clinical setting. 4. 5. nsure that professional standards are maintained in the provision of care within the guidance by the Department of Health, the NMC and HPC. 6. ssist in ensuring there is a robust system in place for maintaining clinical governance within ntegrated Care 24 Ltd (C24) which will reflect recognition of the governance policies and procedure of the clinical service providers we work alongside. 7. ssist the Clinical Lead in providing guidance and support to locality staff and NPs and UCPs for the Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable dults; to ensure all NPs and UCPs are compliant with Safeguarding Training and to attend Safeguarding Boards and Meetings as requested by the Clinical Services lead. 8. Undertake audit to evaluate standards of evidence based care, practice and productivity and act on the findings to assist in the development of action plans, where necessary, to improve standards. Feedback the results of audits to the Clinical Services Lead and the NPs and UCPs. 9. Network with external care providers to ensure continuity and quality of care. 10. Link with the Clinical Governance team to ensure clinical policies and procedures are up to date and current. 11. ssist with the recruitment and selection of the clinical team. 12. ssist and liaise in the development and implementation of new bids and tenders. 13. Participate in winter planning and business continuity and emergency/major incident planning. 14. nsure effective operation of systems designed to assess the risk of and to prevent, detect and control the spread of health care associated infections. 15. nsure infection control standards are maintained and undertake regular audit to demonstrate compliance. Service Delivery 16. Support the in/out-of-hours teams across the entire locality functions based at Woodingdean. 17. nsure practitioners are aware of their responsibilities and are compliant with external governance standards e.g. nformation Governance, CQC. Management 18. nsure appropriate clinical governance is in place for the clinical service and to assist the Clinical Services Lead with investigation of incidents. 19. ssist the Clinical Services Lead with evidence gathering and compliance for the CQC. 20. Respond to unexpected changing circumstances and conduct a needs analysis risk assessment to decide on sufficient resources. 21. nsure an efficient and effective service delivery by actively supporting the Clinical teams and providing both planned and ad hoc teaching and supervision sessions to the clinical teams. 22. nsure records are kept on C24 activities and produce statistical data. 23. Provide strong, dynamic support to the dvanced Nurse Practitioners and Urgent Care Practitioners working across the area. 24. nsure there are accurate records kept for learning and development. 25. Manage the mandatory training database for the Clinical services team and assist the Clinical Services Lead in identifying training resources. Quality of Service 21. nsure that shift reports are regularly reviewed and appropriate and timely action taken in response. 22. ssist with the management of complaints in line with agreed procedures. 23. Co-manage the on-site Health and Safety provision; complete regular health and safety risk assessments taking appropriate action where appropriate; co-manage the provision of nfection Control, support and information. Professional and Clinical 24. Provide professional support for all NPs and UCPs within BHSS, providing advice, clinical supervision and support. 25. Develop and manage a robust system for recording and maintaining a training matrix for the team. 26. ssist with clinical audits and the development of action plans. 27.
