The Junior State of America (JSA) is a nationwide, nonpartisan, political education program for high school students. Founded in 1934, JSA is sponsored by The Junior Statesmen Foundation, in cooperation with high schools across the country. JSA chapters are school-sponsored clubs with faculty advisors. The educational philosophy of the organization is that students can best acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for active citizenship by running their own self-governing organization. continued on page 3 Fall 2008 Newsletter 2
