coverage. National Immunisation Days will occur this year this will be an excellent opportunity to improve coverage, which currently stands at around 50% 3.0.Updates 3.1. Nutrition Atlas (T. Stillman, Cluster): The Nutrition Atlas is not ready for distribution final formatting and data integrity checks are on-going. 3.2. CMAM (T. Stillman): The CMAM Technical Working Group did not meet as scheduled in the month of January. The group will convene as scheduled in February and report back in the next cluster meeting. 3.3. IYCF Technical Working Group (Charity, UNICEF): Finalize and disseminate the nutrition atlas None T. Stillman (Cluster) The group met in December as scheduled. cluster meeting. Participants again discussed concerns about present Vitamin A coverage rates. The MoHCW acknowledged that the transition away from campaigns has had a detrimental impact on coverage of Vitamin A, which has fallen from above 80% to around 50%. MoHCW will convene group to discuss implications and explore options for re-introducing limited campaign activity while support for routine services is ongoing. The MoHCW will host NIDS this year, which will help considerably with current coverage rates. Convene group to explore options for addressing low VA coverage. MoHCW 3.5. Food Security (T. Ndumiyana, WFP): WFP presented the latest findings from their food security monitoring system. Trends are generally consistent with expectation for this time of year: maize prices are on the rise, source markets are drying out, and there increased gold panning and fruit selling as casual labour opportunities remain inaccessible. Rains are below normal for this time of year, raising concerns about the upcoming harvest. Partners are monitoring this situation closely. The WFP food pipeline is constrained due to export bans from Malawi this affects both the cereal and CSB pipeline. As a result, VGF rations have been reduced by 50%, and the supplementary feeding programme is at risk of closing down. WFP is exploring other mechanisms to meet commitments, including discussion with government about sourcing the GMB supplies. WFP will be replacing food with cash for a select number of households (~20,000). 3.6. Food and Nutrition Council (K. Mukodoka): Approval processes for the National Food and Nutrition Policy continue to progress. Release is expected towards the end of the first quarter in 2012;. The FNC has introduced a website as well as a quarterly newsletter. Participants looked at the website during the meeting. The newsletter will be circulated by te cluster coordinator following the meeting. Roll out of the Food and Nutrition Security Committees has not yet begun. Discussion are still underway between ACF and UNICEF with respect to pilot roll out. Manual has not yet been circulated for comment as agreed in the October Circulate Newsletter and manual for FNSTs FNC/CC Meeting Minutes, 3
