Umpire mission and tasks Norwegian Joint Headquarters Mission During CR-16, the Umpire/Controller-org will conduct controlling/observing, umpiring, and guidance & evaluation in the core FTX AREA i.o.t. facilitate achievement of exercise objectives and support participating units training objectives. Umpire/Controller tasks The individual umpire/controller tasks are: To present a realistic tactical picture of the battle To describe the effect of enemy fire To make decisions on the outcome of battles and adjudge their success or failure, loss of personnel, equipment, etc. To keep the FSSUE/EXDIR chain of command informed on battle progress To intervene when safety or environmental considerations require it To write and deliver regular reports, in accordance with exercise instructions. 2016.03.07 39
